Kalish has power potential. And just because they would have better value at CF doesn't mean that Theo wouldn't get value if Kalish stays at LF. Think about it this way - just because Youkilis has more value at third than he does at first, doesn't mean that Beltre was unsignable.

I actually agree with that Yankee fan. They have seen Kalish come through the system, they know what he's capable of and the player he's matured into. He simply has more power than Ellsbury does and a better arm. Ellsbury doesn't just NOT hit HRs, he doesn't hit much hard at all. He gets into grooves (often after extended periods of struggling offensively) where he is lacing balls around the field, but it isn't with the consistency that one wants to see getting one of 9 coveted slots on the team. I can see a scenario where Ellsbury sticks around because I think Kalish could be a tremendous LF in Boston, but if Ellsbury represents some important trade value, I imagine they would part with him largely due to Kalish's emergence and growth.

Kalish is worth a LOT more as a CFer than as a LFer and the same for Ellsbury. Those two guys in LF they are average overall compared to the big boppers in those positions. Youkilis is an elite offensive talent regardless of where he plays

Ellsbury's stats are almost as good as Crawford's, and Crawford is not exactly an "average" LF.

I think Kalish has 20-25 HR potential, which isn't bad given that he also has speed and hit well.

So' date=' yeah, that Ellsbury guy might not be long for the Red Sox. I like Kalish and think he could be better than Ellsbury long term[/quote']

they're both very talented and under team control for the next 3 years. no reason we can't keep them both

i think you're still living in the steroid era. the average left fielder this year has a slg of .430

I think the Sox could get at least two more innings out of Buchholz. That should hopefully take us far enough that Tito can't even think about using MDC.

look at youk talking to tito and trying to move his hand. do you think he's saying, "i'm telling you, i can play with the cast! i can move these four fingers, see?"

Not falling behind 2-0 to everyone would help.
