obviously the connection isn't fact. but you have to wonder when it bothers one umpire enough to come right out and say it's an "embarassment"' date=' how many other umpires it also bothers[/quote']

I don't agree with what Joe West said, but he wasn't referencing the amount of pitches the Yankees and the Red Sox's take, he was referencing the hitters calling time at home plate.

And you can say "obviously the connection isn't fact" now, but you wrote it as fact, so I have no choice but to interpret it that way.

Wilson has the Sox number.
Has anyone of our genius hitters figure out that you have to take this guy the other way. If you try to pull him, you ground out.

Go figure' date=' Dice-K gives us a pretty good outing and the Red Sox can't seem to score a run.[/quote']There are only 4 real hitters in our lineup.

Why did the Red Sox pickup Eric Patterson? I don't think I've seen him do anything useful, besides when he hit two home runs in one game when the were playing Tampa at Tropicana Field.

And funny enough, that didn't even add up to a win, it was just 2 useless solo jacks in a loss.

BTW Does anyone have this on TIVO. Dice k'd Cantu to end the inning and the ball got loose. It appeared to me that Salty picked up the ball in his bare hand and tagged the batter with the glove. I don't think that is a put out.

I just re-wound it. He picked the ball up with his glove, tagged him with his glove, but then quickly transferred the ball to his barehand. I could see how you could have missed it.

It seems to me that the Red Sox failed this year at picking up anybody. The Yankees picked up people for absolutely nothing and the Red Sox didn't. I don't think Theo really believes that the Sox can make a run. If he did he would have made a more or two.

If you can improve your ballclub without giving up much, there absolutely no reason to not do it. This team has a ton of holes and a ton of injuries. He would have to be completely insane if he thinks this team has what it takes to make the playoffs. (And I'm not talking "it's possible", I'm talking about probable.)

I think the Sox would have stood a better change of making the playoffs if they picked up a bat and someone who can make that bullpen better. Right now they are in the race for the playoff and they are playing with minor league players.

It would not have taken a lot to have won a few of the close games that were lost when Patterson, Cash and assorted other garbage had been playing.

Dick K just called the catcher out and asked him. How do you say your name?

The starting pitcher is fine. The offense is fine. The only hole is the bullpen. One good bullpen arm would have put them over the top-- not only would they get an extra pitcher early, but they'd also be able to rest Bard and Pap more-- its extremely clear that they have too many miles at this point in the season.
