I can't say enough how impressed I have been by Lowell since he got off the DL. he's been above average defense at 1st, and he's been very hot at the plate.

If there was ever a stadium that needed a retractable roof and air conditioning' date=' it's Arlington Stadium in Arlington, TX. Texans are idiotic twats.[/quote']

Although, I don't like it when people play baseball in a dome. If Texas' heat is anything like it is in Tampa's, you need to have an indoor stadium with A/C. I think people would die by the second inning of the heat, in Tampa if they didn't have A/C and a dome.

Is it just me' date=' or does Lowell play exceptional first base?[/quote']

he's good at the hot shots but he's struggled with feeding the pitcher to the bag and not wandering too far off the bag on balls hit between first and second

Baseball played in air conditioning is for twats. It's not that bad. I work in construction outside four hours South of Arlington. You don't melt' date=' you just sweat, and that won't kill you, Nancy.[/quote']

The people I work with and for in Sub-Saharan Africa and Northern and Eastern India and Central America have to endure brutally hot temps as well night and day, but I assure you that if they had the choice, they'd choose air conditioning. Building a stadium with no retractable roof or AC when your day games routinely exceed 100 degrees for about 1/3 of the season isn't smart, purist, tough or masculine, it's just bad business and idiotically macho. But if that works for ya, that's your prerogative.

Excellent half-inning so far. Let's keep it going, boys. Bases chock full o'Sox. 3-0, no outs.

I agree with you there. People may think that heat isn't all that bad, but if you are in a place that gets really hot, it can be like walking into a wall of heat every time you step out of a building with air conditioning.

Bad business? Do you know what it costs to cool a 25,000,000 cubic foot space? Tampa has AC, and they couldn't fill the seats.....when they sucked. The Astros stuggle with attendence.....when they are awful. Field a winner, and people will go*, like in Texas this year.

*Except for in Miami, who can never get the fans to show up.

Hopefully, we can hold a 3 run lead with 1 inning to go. I'd send Lester back out to nail this down. If Tito goes to the pen, I hope he hands it to Atchinson here.

Tampa is still struggling to get fans to come to the games, ORC. I think the only times that I've seen them sellout is when either the Yankees of the Red Sox are in town.

Their attendence is much better than it was 4 years ago. It's not because the games are played in the comfort of AC.

Even if Atchison gets it done... taking Lester out was a bad decision.
Agreed. However, Lester has had a problem with the heat in some games. He may just be out of gas.

The Pirates are ahead of both the Marlins and the Rays in attendance percentage this season, and I've been to Pirates games this season, and the seats are usually less than half-filled. And the Pirates suck.

Winning doesn't necessarily correlate with attendance, but it doesn't hurt.
