Alex Gonzalez traded to Atlanta

Is this real life? Alex Gonzalez, was traded to Atlanta to help improve the team and Escobar goes the other way.

 

Granted Escobar is having a bad season but he's 27 and posted a .301/.375/.426/.801 the past three years. For Alex Gonzalez who's having a fluke season and sucks in general.

Wow, I definitely did not see that one coming. It's Alex Gonzalez as well as a minor league LHP and a minor league SS going to Atlanta for Yunel Escobar and JoJo Reyes.

It makes sense, insofar as winning right now with Bobby Cox. Escobar isn't producing at all and refuses to make adjustments with his stance, something the organization has wanted him to do for awhile. They wanted him to try to pull the ball more to generate more power. He has a bit of an attitude problem. A change of scenery might be what he needs.

I can honestly say I have no effing clue what the Braves are smoking. ALL signs point to Escobar having a strong second half with Gonzalez regressing. Not to mention the age difference. Wow....just wow.

looks like the braves are putting all their eggs in the 2010 basket with bobby cox, chipper jones and billy wagner likely retiring after this year

Jon Heyman just insinuated on Twitter that Cox had problems with Escobar.

Happy for AGon. Glad we won't have to face him 9 more times this season. His bat kills us (and a lot teams for that matter).

The Braves didnt make out too badly. They rid themselves of Jo Jo Reyes and got 2 good prospects with Gonzalez
