Its not as bad for hitters as pitchers though. What's one or two AB and two innings in the field going to do?

I still believe there are better chances Girardi bring in Nick Johnson than Youk.

Youk's got to be one of the most snubbed players of his skill level in MLB history. He's been one of the best offensive first basemen in the league for the past 2-3 seasons and he's gone to the all star game exactly once, last year when Ortiz finally disappeared.

Yeah, it's a laffer Youk isn't an all-star.

The All-Star game is a piece of PR crap. I heard the ESPN guys say they use corked balls and bats in the HR hitting "contest." Youks is better off resting his ankle. A few other notables also begged off to take it easy.

Also the Balls are more tightly wrapped by the string inside which makes them fly farther. I hate the Home Run Derby now i like the old TV show where they had two players face head to head.

The All-star game has turned into a popularity contest. Look At players that should have gotten in and haven't.

Think about how many people that have made the All Star break that have been injured recently and have had to back out. I'd try to keep the Red Sox players as far away from the All Star game as possible at this rate. Especially considering our injury history thus far.

I'm pretty sure he was there in 2008 too as a starter. I definitely remember booing him during introductions ;) lol

Ok yeah, 2 all star appearanced in the last 4 all-star caliber years (counting this one).

he'd have gone for the last 5 years if he's broken in at third rather than first. Or if he was a Yankee.

Why all the hate for the home run derby and all star game? It's a fun time. A break for the players and a fun chance for fans to see all the players you normally wouldn't see. Can there be at least a couple days in the course of a season where people don't sit around finding fault aand deep meaning in everything and being miserable?

Who really gives a s*** anyway? This team has been decimated enough to the point where every guy on the roster should welcome not having to have their season turn into a 163-game schedule.
