I agree that starters often get underused, but the guy only averages just over 100 pitches a game (throughout his career). He had thrown 108 pitches in the game, so it's not like he'd usually go longer.

 

Also don't forget that it wasn't INTENDED to use 5 relievers. I'm sure they planned on just using Oki and Atchison, but Oki and Atchison sucked, they brought in Richardson and he made it a 3 run game so they brought in the closer. Blame Oki and Atichson for making Tito use 3 other relievers.
