Oh come on, this is one argument I can never get. Good teams drop series against bad teams all the freaking time, it's part of the ebb and flow of the season.

I concur with this. But rather make the deal without including Doubront. Have a feeling that he could pay dividends for the Sox in the 2nd half this season, whether it be spot starting or in the bullpen

If they feel that one big trade will get them to the post season, they'll do it. But if its going to be the difference between coming 3rd or 4th in the AL East what's the point? McDonald and Hermida have been passable short term solutions. Atchison, Boof Bonser, Schoenweiss and Nelson have not. If they haven't traded for middle relief yet, why believe that they are going to trade for a new outfielder?

 

I'm not giving up on the season, but as we saw the last few nights, Buchholz, Lester, Bard and Papelbon can't pitch shutouts every single game. The rest of the pitching staff needs some consistency. Or they could fire Farrell.
