I'm not talking sh*t, but I wanted to express my opinion,

I really respect Red Sox fans!!! I grew up in the Washington Heights projects in Manhattan and also Coney Island in Brooklyn. I'm a Yankee fan by nature, my parents actually met at a Yankee games; so not for them I wouldn't be here 2day. (which I'm sure some of you wish) I have to say, you are all behind your team and the willingness to win is incredible. Not like most Yankees fans who are fake and cannot even name even the 1st 5 batters in the lineup. f***, most Yankee fans can't even name 5 batters total in the lineup. They are ignorant losers who have no idea about the intricacies of B-Ball.

Living in NY, and seeing the rivalry for what its all about (been to 9 Yankees vs Red Sox games), including '04, when I wouldn't leave my house for 7 days and took work off to lament; I think that Red Sox fans are pretty cool. Not because of Jimmy Fallon and Drew Barrymore in "Fever Pitch", that stupid movie about the Red Sox winning in'04, they deserved it, historic!!! They did what they needed to do. That truly was the greatest comeback in sports history (sorry Bruins fans from this year:()

All I wanted to say is that I believe the Sox started this whole "rivalry" action. The Yankees are all about titles, they don't care who they beat. (Braves in '96 & '98, Padres in '99, Mets in 2000, Philly in '09).

The Yankees could lose EVERY game to the Red Sox in 2010, but if they win the WS it's a successful season. The Red Sox, If they only won 19 games in 2010, but all wins were against the Yankees they would consider it an ok season.

The point is, the Yankees don't CARE about the Red Sox, right now they are more worried about the Rays, because they just want WS titles. The Red Sox however, have some unknown, weird vendetta against the Yankees where every game the Red Sox play against the Yanks is like their WS...?? The end goal is to win the WS, not beat any team a certain amount of times. I think that the Red Sox can win a lot of WS's of they forget about the Yanks and focus on the big goal, winning WS titles.

We still got 27, I think one day the Red Sox will pass that, but not until they realize that it's about winning, not just beating the Yanks.

Peace out to my boy Gino and all my friends in Boston.

GL, season is far from over, Yanks might not win sh*t...

I DO feel strongly, because too many B.Red Sox fans want to crucify the Yankees, and too many Yankee fans are talking sh*t with nothing to back it up.

I love both teams to be honest, (obviously you have to root for 1, and that's the Yanks in my opinion). I have some of my best friends living in Boston, however I was born and raised in NY. I gotta go with the Yanks, but I respect the competition and the way these two teams compete against each other.

Which Ump said he doesn't like doing Yank vs. Sox games because they are too long?

There's been so much drama with Umps this season I forgot

It's a testimony to how these two teams play each other, and the desire to beat the other team! I'm not a hater of the Red Sox, more than I hate any team preventing the Yanks from getting #28. I love the games; the stress, how every pitch matters, the excitement, and how they react to each other. I say go Yanks, Go R Sox, hopefully no more 3-0 comebacks, and lets play a great season!!

BTW Theo is great, so you Theo Bashers nees to chill, you got 2 WS titles under him, relax!!

yssc78, that all changed in 2004. We didnt care about the red sox prior to that since the sox really were irrelevant. Once they became relevant, they came onto our radar. Prior to that, the Royals were our biggest AL rival in the late 70s, early 80s and the O's prior to that. Most yankee fans in that time hated the Royals and the O's more than they hated the Red Sox (my dad being one of those yankee fans who hated those teams). Once the sox proved their worth and made history, they came square into our sights and hence why I hate them anyway. But it is a different kind of hate than we are all accustomed to. It's a hatred that wants them to lose every game, but I do respect them. Until the sox become irrelevant (and they are showing no signs of doing that with their recent drafts) then we wont care about them like the Royals and the O's of now.

While I agree with the premise of your post, I couldn't help but shake my head as I was reading it. :thumbdown

But all in all, you're a Yankee fan so I got your back. Just be careful with all that enthusiasm, it tends to rub people around here the wrong way ;)

For the most part though, this is a pretty cool site to just sit back and talk baseball with other fans. Welcome...

Oh and btw, I have to disagree with one thing. I don't see the Sox passing the Yanks in World Championships, nor do I think I will in my lifetime ever see them reach 27. That's just me though

Woo boy...

So, the sox werent irrelevant prior to 2004? Maybe in 1986, but the Yankees werent that good back then. The last time the sox were relevant to the Yankees was in 1978. I wasnt around in 1978, so I cannot give you true testimony, but my dad said that most Yankee fans in the metro area didnt care about the sox any more than they did any other team. Nowadays, obviously, the sox have a bullseye on their backs when they come to NY.
