The Sox really need to get a big bat. They can't score any runs this year. Drew sucks. Beltre can't field. Papi's done. Our pitching staff will never turn it around. This is a bridge year. Theo should be fired. This ownership group only cares about the almighty dollar. The Fenway sell-out streak's in jeopardy. Tito is a sorry excuse for a manager.

Sox response: Suck it, haters.

Not one poster. I can name several.

The RBI argument, the "soft" argument, the massively overpaid argument, the "NO TUFF, NO GRIT, BRING BACK TROT!!!" argument and so forth.

So. several posters on one Red Sox message board don't like him for what you consider to be invalid reasons and you and others think that makes him the most under appreciated player in Red Sox history? I go to lots of games including Spring Training games, and I am yet to hear him get booed, not even when he has been slumping. I think the claims of widespread under appreciation are based on what others here call a very "small sample size." 35,000 + fans express a different opinion 81 times a year. I am a Drew fan, but let's stop whining for about his under appreciation.

Is that what i said? At all? Did i mention "under-appreciation"?

What i said was that people are welcome to dislike the guy and criticize him, but if you're going to criticize the guy, use valid arguments.

It's not what i "consider" to be a valid argument. A valid argument is an argument that can be sustained by logic.

Is Drew often injured? Why yes he is.

Does Drew suck because he doesn't get 100 RBI every year? He does not.

Is Drew a true power hiterr? No he isn't.

Does Drew lack passion for the game? "Passion" can't even be quantified.

Is Drew no longer a five-tool talent? That would be correct.

Is Drew absolutely not worth his contract and is a complete and utter mistake from the FO? No, he is not.

That's exactly what i'm trying to say.

Stop making so much sense dammit.

Doesn't make sense, because it's not something i said. Read above.

Beltre sucks' date=' clear the logjam.[/quote']Beltre's sucking or not sucking is independent of the fact that there is a logjam that was created by his acquisition. It exists whether he hits .200 or wins the batting title.

I also have one of Beltre, and one of Scutaro. But that one has a huge "X" and i wrote: "f*** you, i want Gonzales" back with a sad face on it.

Lowell is a bench player, he can play 1B and 3B. We have one regular catcher, one regular 1B and one regular 3B.

The definition of to undervalue is to assign too low a value to; to underestimate; or to have too little regard or esteem for, so my point stands. I think our fan base does undervalue Drew, on the whole. Rather than focusing on the things he does well that are valuable to the team--i.e., field his position, hustle on every play, get on base, not make outs, take pitches, say very little to the media, be a well-regarded family man--instead, fans over-obsess about what they perceive that Drew is not, and most of those observations are either erroneous, overblown, and/or based on fans' own hang-ups about how much money players make. (Drew makes too much money! He's not a Dirt Dog! He doesn't hit for enough power to justify his salary! He's dull! He gets injured too much!) In pretty much every statistical category that's of worth for someone at his position, Drew is the best right fielder the Sox have had since Dwight Evans. Many Sox fans fail to recognize that. Thus, they, the fans, undervalue him. Fortunately, the front office does not.

I don't get why there is only 1 series of interleague play for almost everyone right now and then it goes back to regular play and then a s*** load of interleague play.
