I've been a RedSox fan since about 1965, seen the Sox in 67 a few times, and when I lived in Sacto, CA a buddy and I use to go watch them in Oakland. Clemens almost had a no-hitter until the 7th once. Been watching them either on Directv or now on Comcast for the past 10 years or so. I've met Ray Culp, Sparky Lyle around 68-69 or maybe 70 at a Boy's Club Dinner in Pawtucket RI. I also believe I met Carlton Fisk one day in 69 or 70 at McCoy Stadium when the Redsox just started playing there. Also saw the Pawtucket Guardians quit a few times when they were the home team at McCoy, many fireworks as well. Lived in Pawtucket for about 13 years, 62-75.:D I'm one of the few fans here in Utah now. GO REDSOX!

Nice to be here. Is the Industrial Highway still there' date=' Hasbro?[/quote']

Hasbro is still there. And I don't know all the names of streets! But I think it is.

Hasbro has a plant on Newport Ave. with Mr. Potato Head at the front door!

And the best wieners are still at Kipp's at the corner of Newport and Armistice Blvd.

Kipp's is still there, lol I use to go there on Fridays to get the steak/hamburg with onions inside of it, very tasty. Industrial Highway starts at the tresil just past Broadway and Benefit St. ends at the street that goes up to Newport Blvd and where the dog's use to run. Slater Park still there? How long have you lived in Pawtucket? Or do you live in Mass? Attleboro?

Kipp's is great. Just an old time diner. Rhode Island style.

I believe Slater Park is still there. I haven't been there in about ten years. I think they had to do away with the zoo because Pawtucket went bankrupt.

I live in North Attleboro. I used to spend a lot of time at Darlington Hobbies slot car racing.

But since the owner died (a friend of mine), I don't go there anymore.

Cool. I left in 75 for the Air Force, went back in 90, but only for a couple of days. Is Luigi's Pizza still around in Attleboro? I guess it's the main drag, off of Broadway in Pawtucket. It was about a mile or so pass the bridge (maybe 95). Excellent pizza there.

Welcome to TalkSox. It's great to have another fan here who remembers 1967 the birth year of Red Sox Nation. Ray Culp was one of my favorites. Brings back memories of Sonny Seibert, Gary Peters, and Dick Ellsworth.

I remember that after 1967 I thought he would be a solid pitcher for years. He won a bunch of games at the beginning of '68 and looked like an ace, but then he hurt his arm and his career was essentially over. That coupled with Lonborg's off-season injury was devastating.

Yup, Jim was never the same after that year. I also forgot to mention I met Joe Lahoud at Crescent Park in 68 or 69. He tried to copy Yaz's batting stance, lol
