Interesting comments from the spanish broadcasters:

"There is no sense in saying the Red Sox will be "broken" if they lose to the Yankees tonight, these are professional ballplayers that know that anything can happen in the game of baseball. Just look at how they dominiated the Yankees early last year, but look how that ended. They will bounce back, and it will be a three-team race in the AL East to the finish".

Interesting, well-thought out words from an unbiased source.

Yeah, when you get past the emotion part of how much last night sucked, that's the truth. If we won last night, people would be thinking about us catching up. We lost and people think the season's in peril. But it's one game, is it really that big of a difference?

Did anyone hear what the controversy was with Lowell and then with Dice-K and Martinez? Remy mentioned that there were problems today but I didn't listen to the pregame show so I didn't get any details?

Ortiz looks like a completely different person. He's smiling at the plate, taking close pitches, getting around on the inside fastball and taking the ball the other way when he's pitched outside.

Hey, if people wanna bash me because i keep a cool head instead of going into full knee-jerk douchebag mode, let 'em.

I've watched enough baseball (American and Winter Leagues) to know three things:

A) Things always even out.

B ) Anything can happen in baseball.

C) You don't assign season's end numbers (specially calling them sure 100-win teams) in April or May. You play the game.

Beckett's looking pretty sharp so far.

Don't mean to be a pessimist, but he hasn't been missing his spots early in the game, and that's what usually happens before hitters catch up and hammer him. Keeping my fingers crossed for a turnaround.

If you paid close attention last night, you noticed that Daisuke Matsuzaka spent a good portion of his night shaking off the signs that Victor Martinez was showing him during Monday's 11-7 loss to the Yankees.

The pair never seemed comfortable, and Matsuzaka obviously didn't like the signs that Martinez was putting down. It wouldn't be the first time this happened with the pair.

After the game, Martinez conveyed his displeasure with the situation.

"Inside the Sox clubhouse, meanwhile, catcher Victor Martinez was conveying frustration, too, of a different type, suggesting that he and Matsuzaka were in disharmony. Martinez acknowledged that Matsuzaka shook off his signs frequently Monday night, “maybe” more than he ever has, and this wasn’t the first time that pitcher and catcher were not in synch.

“He’s the one,” Martinez said. “I’m just back there trying to help him go through the game. At the end he’s the one who has the ball in his hand. I’m just behind the plate trying to help him. At the end, he’s the one who has the last word. He’s the one who has the ball in his hand. I just put down suggestions and he can say yes or no.” "

Is it merely a coincidence that Dice-K had his best game of the season with Jason Varitek behind the plate and has struggled with Martinez there? In his last outing with Varitek catching, Dice-K allowed one run, struck out nine and walked three against the Blue Jays.

With Martinez behind the plate, he has a 9.90 ERA this season.

This is certainly something to keep an eye on moving forward

To paraphrase, Daisuke said he knew what was wrong last night, but wasn't going to tell the media and Martinez said that he's not the guy who throws the pitches or has the final say on what Daisuke's going to throw.

As for Lowell, he said that he may consider asking for a trade if he doesn't get more playing time.

Interesting.

Well, Beckett did a pretty good job getting out of that. He got two weak grounders and unfortunately one of them got through, before striking out Jeter
