Are you saying Buchholz has been better this year than Lester?

Because Lester beats him in just about every metric. Buchholz has been better on the road, but other than that...

The report is an ankle "cramp." Technically, a joint cannot cramp up, but the official status is day-to-day and he should be in the lineup tomorrow. This definitely was a case where his absence cost the sox a game

Lester has been the best pitcher in baseball since he got out of April. And while his starts since then have been slightly better than Buchholz, Buchholz has been pitching well all year-- including the part of the year when the team was at its worst, and needed an ace-- April. I think its reasonable to argue for the more consistent pitcher with fewer earned runs against.

Deadly as in somone on the team is gonna contract AIDS? It could be until August before we start rolling again when the bodies start coming back to health

Jed Lowrie is playing in A ball right now. He started at SS, but they pulled him after 6. I get the feeling he's not leaving the minors.

Beltre thinks he's OK

Posted by Peter Abraham, Globe Staff July 11, 2010 04:36 PM

Terry Francona said he thought Adrian Beltre may only have a cramp in his left hamstring.

Beltre said that, for now, he is planning to play in the All-Star but wouldn't do anything "too crazy" to jeopardize the rest of the season.

beltre may go on dl accoridng to roootoworld.com

Adrian Beltre left Sunday's game in the fifth inning with a left hamstring injury.

He pulled up while running to first but did play an inning in the field before being removed. Eric Patterson replaced him in the lineup, with Bill Hall going to third base and Patterson handling second. The All-Star will almost surely not play in Tuesday's game, with the DL a possibility. His teammate, Kevin Youkilis, represents a likely replacement.

Youkilis hasn't had a whole lot of luck with the All-star game so far. I get a funny feeling that Nick Johnson has a better chance of making it in at this point.

I was just about to post that-- it sounds good' date=' but I get the feeling they'll pull the reins on him.[/quote']

God but it also said he is working out which means even if they hold him off he will still be ready.

Beltre felt good after batting practice and sounds like he'll play in all star game

Adrian Beltre (hamstring) felt good swinging Monday and intends to play in the All-Star Game.

It looks like Michael Young won't be needed after all. Earlier in the day, All-Star manager Joe Girardi had announced that Young would replace Beltre on the roster, but he felt "good to go" after BP Monday.

"As long as the doctors say that my bone's not going to break off," said Pedroia, he'll start weight-bearing activities after Friday's CT. "That's what the fear was the last three weeks, why I couldn't walk. Where I broke my bone, if a bone breaks off they have to put a pin in it and then I'd miss the rest of the season. So my biggest thing is if I'm fine, if that bone's strong enough to not break off, I'm going to play."

great news on josh beckett

"Josh Beckett (back) allowed one run over four innings for Triple-A Pawtucket in his first rehab start.

Beckett gave up two hits, walked no one and struck out four. He threw 42 of 68 pitches for strikes and topped out at 96 mph on the radar gun, according to the AP. The right-hander, who has been out since May 19, will need at least one more rehab start before returning to Boston's rotation."

getting him back in the second half would be like trading for verlander or haren at the deadline

extra bases just had a long update on all the injuries, to summarize:

Buchholz will make a rehab start at AAA on Friday and could make a major league start Wednesday

Delcarmen will make a rehab appearance at AA on Thursday and then is expected to come off the DL.

Beckett will make a rehab start at AAA on Saturday and could make a major league start July 22nd.

Beltre will get an MRI on Thursday and will likely be fine.

Hermida will begin a rehab assignment at AA on Thursday and could join the team after a few more games.

V-Mart will get an x-ray Thursday and will go from there.

Pedroia will get a CT scan Friday and will go from there.

Varitek will get a CT scan Friday and go from there.

Ellsbury has been working out in Florida and should begin a rehab assignment in about two weeks.

Lowrie went 6-15 (.400) in 6 games at A and will begin a rehab assignment at AAA on Thursday.

and that makes up 40% of what would probably be our 25-man roster if they were all healthy

he said the pain was getting better at the beginning of the week and as soon as he can get his hand in his glove he'll be ready to play

Yeah...don't listen to jacko..... ever......:rolleyes:

lol, not sure how v-mart saying "it's getting better, taking it day-by-day" translates as a lot of pain but a guy can dream i uess. my guess is that if the x-ray comes back negative v-mart will be playing in about a week
