Yeah and the Mavs have higher PPG averages wtf is your point

that they were not the best in the conference, just that they made the finals, stat wise, not he best

He's banned....I guess you won the argument.

I'm not really sure why were arguing about the Mavs/Heat Finals but Game 3 has to go down as one of the worst officiated games in league history. With the Mavs up 2-0 in the Series, and with a good sized lead in the fourth quarter, the Heat then managed to get every single call, winning that game and eventually the series. I was cheering for the Heat in that series and I thought it was disgusting how many calls they got in that fourth quarter. So that Championship has always been tainted as far as I'm concerned.

Yeah, he was born in Boston, Flordia inside a cab outside of Fenway.

Weird how that works out, the owner of this site born in Boston, Florida right outside of Fenway.

That game last night is why I choose Kobe over Lebron. Every time the Suns looked like they were going to make a game of it, Kobe made some ridiculous, off-balance shot over two guys to just put a dagger in them. Amazing performance by Kobe in that game and in that series.

Kobe has a better supporting cast than Lebron does

That's why Kobe drops turn around jumpers over two defenders when the game's on the line? That's why Kobe had, like, seven game winners this year when everyone knew he was going to get the ball and was going to shoot? The Cavaliers have enough talent to win a title, and the guys surrounding Lebron are better than you give them credit for being. Like I said in my first post in this thread, Kobe's done more with some terrible supporting casts than just about anyone -- again, he made the playoffs in the West (when the East vs. West balance was really lopsided) with a team that started Smush Parker, Brian Cook, and a combination of Kwame Brown and Chris Mihm and nobody coming off of the bench. I have to pick one of those guys to win a series for me, I take Kobe every single time.

I always chose Kobe over LeBron, regardless of last night's performance. Last night's performance just does the talking so we don't have to. Whenever someone wants to talk to me about LeBron being better than Kobe, all I have to do is show them highlights from that game (and a few other playoff highlights) and the argument is won.

As have I. If there's been an argument regarding Kobe, I almost always take his side. I was just using that fourth quarter last night as an example of why I'd choose Kobe. Every time you started to think Phoenix might come back, Kobe put a dagger in them at the other end. It was amazing.

I would die laughing if Kobe read Talksox, and referenced this thread in an interview and talked about how LeBron can't do what he's doing. He'd be all like "Hey Emmz, watch LeBron do this..."

Kobe does that regardless who plays with him , he could have Jordan playing beside him and he would still attempt that shot . that dosent mean he dosent have a good supporting cast

how did that shot work in game 5 with the game on the line ? not so good but he lucked out and Artest bailed his shot out , if it wasent for that it could be a totally different scenario at the moment

Lebron averages in playoffs

29.3PPG 7.3APG 8.4 RPG

there's nothing wrong with those numbers

Lebron will have his moments and a few championships before its done

I'm lol'ing at the fact that its now debatable whether Kobe has a better supporting cast than Lebron. Its not even close, Kobe's on a stacked team, Lebron is on a team that basically relies on him to carry the load. Lebron James is as good and imo better than Kobe Bryant was in his prime.

That makes two of us, because I'm lol'ing that it is now "debatable" who is the better player between Kobe and LeBron.

Bryant is the leagues best basketball player. James is leagues best athlete by far, but Bryant has the better skill set, his game reaching all aspects of the basketball spectrum.

What James can do, Bryant simply does better. Sure Bryant isn't stacked with triple-doubles, but in all reality he doesn't have to be. He still passes better, dribbles better, shoots better, plays defense better, and in reality scores in every way better than James to this point.

Bryant has developed the best "rise up" shot in the game, as he with ease rises above any and every defender and drills shot after shot after shot. Bryant may not slam everything threw the rim like James, but there have been times when James has missed dunks because he just has to power everything in.

James being the athlete he is, uses his ability to get to the rim and when that may be taken away from him he will rise up for the jumper. His game resembles that of a baseball pitcher with two strong pitches, the fast ball and the change up. No matter what, his opponent knows whats coming.

Bryant however, he resembles the like of a premiere pitcher who can rotate between his change up, fastball, knuckle ball, and curve ball to the point where you never know whats coming, he makes sure to keep his opponent uncomfortable

Yeah, but James can do whatever he wants, and you can't stop it. Kobe Bryant has to change it up, otherwise he'd be stopped. Bryant is not better at everything than James is. James is a good passer, as good as Kobe is, whether you want to admit it or not. Dribbling all that is really just nothing. In the end, the way you take over games and dominate is what everyone's going to judge your game by. Basketball really is a game that you can tell how good someone is by their stats. Lebron James' stats suggest that he's the best player in basketball.

Either way, neither man is going to be Michael Jordan imo, but if either one were to come close in the end, it's Lebron James, not Kobe Bryant. Kobe's been on teams where he wasn't even considered the absolute best player on his team. Kobe has, apart from those few years where Shaq was gone, and the Lakers were awful, had very good supporting cast. The Lakers aren't just a better supporting cast than the Cavs, but they are STACKED. Ital can be as irrational as he wants, but he knows that this has been about even split, as to who thinks who's better. As to who has the better supporting cast, I think that an overwhelming majority would say that the Lakers team is vastly superior to the Cavs.

Posted

There's no arguing that Kobe has the better supporting cast, but I would hardly say the Lakers are stacked. One of the worst PG's in the league, Artest having been something of a disappointment and having lost a step on defense, and a s***** bench don't make for a "stacked" team.

Kobe's got a better post-game, he's a better shooter by quite a bit, a better defender in my opinion, although Lebron's a better rebounder, and can you really argue whether or not he's a better leader? Lebron's a better slasher, but part of that is because Kobe's body has a lot more mileage, and also a better passer, but I think Kobe's shown he can be a damn good passer himself.

Who's the best basketball player ever in your mind?

Posted
I think that if they were the same age, this debate would be over. I honestly don't think it's fair to use Kobe's age as an argument for LeBron. That'd be like using Kobe's career point totals in an argument against LeBron.
Posted
If you could choose between Kobe's previous 10 years' date=' or LeBron's next 10 years which would you pick?[/quote']

Hard to say. But I would consider Kevin Durants next ten years over Lebron's next ten years.
