This was more along the lines of what I was thinking of for a Red Sox/Blue Jays series' date=' a 2-1 win rather than a 13-12 one.[/quote']

Why? Throw two pitchers out there that are bringing the suck, coupled with a game on turf.

I'm not surprised.

McDonald is hitting the ball very well. That is a good reason to have him in the lineup. Van Every is up because they have an open spot.
The book on McDonald is that he can hit lefties. He's not so good against righties.

There are 2 teams that were close to the bottom 10 in runs scored (prior to the 13-12 game), facing Josh Beckett and Dana Eveland, one of which is a really good pitcher and the other had been pitching well on the season. You'd imagine that good pitching and sub par offenses mixed with good defenses would end up in a low scoring game. Go figure.

It's been a very encouraging April from Buchholz. I wasn't sold on him because of his inconsistencies. The upside that a rotation of Lester, Beckett, Lackey, Buchholz and Matsuzaka has is just ridiculous. When our pitchers and hitters come around, we're going to be in really good shape.

Some positivity here for once, I like it.

That start was just so huge from Buchholz. We desperately needed a long start to preserve the pen and we got exactly that.

Buchholz kicked ass out there and you can tell his confidence in his stuff is increasing. Now when someone gets a hit off him or a fielder makes a bad error, he doesn't get shaken, he just gets down to business. He's bound to have another bad start, all pitchers do, but it'll be interesting to see how he follows up that bad start.

8 innings out a starter was the best gift Buchholz could have given the Sox. I held my breath every pitch of the 9th with Ramirez but he pulled it out.

The Sox have now won 3 series in a row.

Beckett has an ERA over 7, Lester has an ERA over 6, Lackey and Wakefield have ERA's over 5. Yet we've still won 6 of our last 8 games and three series in a row. I don't understand all the worry.
