This August will mark the 45th anniversary of my first visit to Fenway Park. I thought I had seen it all. Never, save for a few months of the Billy Herman era, have I seen a player dictate when he will play as Ortiz has done this season. Enough with Tito's "David has a lot of pride..." The Sox would be fortunate to compete in the East with nine hitters in the line-up. They have no chance with eight. Bench, him, trade him, release him. Now.

 

Over the winter, Theo said his new look defense will "win five games." Errors by the big three - Scutaro, Beltre and Cameron have cost the Sox two games already. Does that mean the defense needs to win 7 games to make Theo's prediction come true?

 

Sad as it seems, it's almost time to give the kids a chance to play and see what happens next year. Unload Ortiz, Drew, Cameron, Scutaro, Wakfield...bring in the kids.

Calm down. Adjustments must be made to become more succesful, but unloading a bunch of players of that caliber is not the way to go.

I never realized that the baseball season was won or lost in the first two weeks. All teams go through strings of loosing & winning. That's why they play 162 games. The Yanks were worst at the start of last season. The Sox brain trust is not stupid...relax and enjoy the season. Noone has ever won a division in the first four months of the season....never mind the firrst two weeks. Be a FAN.
