Beltre: 1-3 2RBI

Cameron: 2-3

Scutaro: 2-3 1 RBI

Schoeneweis: 1 IP 1 K

Not too shabby. There will be plenty of time to hate these guys, but for now I'm happy.

Impressed most by Schoeneweis. It will fade but it was nice to see him be effective.

Scutaro and the others i hope more of the same comes for the next 161 games.

Beltre is awesome.

That is all.

Agreed. Lowell wouldn't have come with 3 feet of Granderson's grounder in the 9th

Some of the naysayers must be pretty unhappy right about now.

Good to see, but it's not like it's that surprising. These are consistent hitters.

Where is PWNdroia?

I don't know, but lets cherish the time he isn't here. Even more incentive to root for the Red Sox to do well. He probably won't come around much.

Right now he reminds me of the fan from Major League 2.

Having Scutaro at the bottom of the order instead of Green is going to make a big difference' date=' IMO.[/quote']

Just knowing who's going to be out there every day at SS is huge. It will be nice to have someone consistently hold down the position for the first time in years. I realize that hasn't happened yet, but I have faith Scutaro will do the job effectively.

Great first game from the new guys. Lets hope we see the same from Lackey and Hermida and/or Hall when they get the opportunity.

If Bill Hall ever starts a game Im committing suicide

Scutaro is a pest, and he is better than Green. But getting behind the #9 hitter on any team is a recipe for disaster. Just ridiculous that nobody could throw strike 1 to him.

Beltre hammered fastballs all night. Not sure why people throw him fastballs especially out over the plate. He can be pitched to, just like any major leaguer, but you gotta be careful with him.

Cameron was meh.

Schoeneweis has nothing, but got some loogy outs.

Overall, sox fans have to be pleased with game 1 from the new crowd

Say what you want about Schoeneweis but he stopped the bleeding and allowed it to become a game again.

And the bottom 3rd of the lineup was 5-10 with 2 walks and considering what a black hole that bottom 3rd was last year, last night was refreshing.

Both teams got a lot of production from the bottom of the order. Kinda surprising since both of our aces were on the bump. Typically, the bottoms of the orders go silent when CC or Josh are pitching

I agree, this is one of the best things about the 2010 sox. No more bottomless pit of despair in the 9 spot.

I don't think anyone is really likely to change their opinions one way or another based on one game. Through the first month of 2007 Julio Lugo actually looked like the leadoff man we'd been hoping he'd become.

Umm, CC Sabathia might be your ace, but Josh Beckett really isn't ours. He's probably our #2 though.

One thing I have to confess -- I hadn't realized just how bad Lowell's lack of mobility had become until I saw how much better Beltre is moving around third base. Beltre's range is a huge addition to the left side of our infield defense -- I think our shortstops were taking a lot of unnecessary blame for Lowell's reduced zone. You can only shorten up by playing in or "positioning well" just so much. Lowell got a lot out of being a smart 3B for a long time but he's just too footslow to pull it off anymore. Beltre's athleticism at third is going to be a plus for the team as long as he can stay healthy and remain in the lineup.

Beltre was a grown ass man out there ripping the ball around the park last night. I was one of the bigger Lowell defenders this offseason, but seeing Beltre this Spring out in the field really opened my eyes to how big a upgrade he was at the hot corner. Run prevention can work in even 9-7 games lol. Showenweis FTW hahaha, that could be the only time we hear that this year.

Why can't JD Drew be as good as any of these guys?

Because he's not TUFF and doesn't have GRIT.

Beltre's got TUFF and GRIT though. So what's your excuse for disliking him?

Man played with a busted testicle.

I don't like Beltre at all. After realizing Lowell literally could go more than a foot to his left or right made me realize we need a new 3B.

I'd say that that "takes balls", but that's not technically correct. Would it be more accurate to say that playing with a busted testicle "takes ball?" Either way, JD Drizzle doesn't have that toughness that Adrian Bell-tray does. It's been 1 game into the season and we can already call Beltre the Dirt Dog of the team.

You like TUFF and GRIT, Beltre has TUFF and GRIT, yet you don't like Beltre?

Make up your mind.

Looks like a deeper lineup. Papi might be a big hole in the middle if he doesn't come around. Overmatched last night. Beltre looks like he'll hit in Fenway. Nice lineup, but Tito has to look at Lowell as DH against lefties.
