Either you didn't read the article, or you're not smart enough to comprehend what the discussion is about. Either way, annoying as usual.

Arent you due to leave in a tiff soon?

My point is that being compared to Halladay at all, statistically or whathaveyou can raise expectations, which is exactly what a young pitcher doesnt need, especially when they are trying to fight their way into a rotation slot.

sigh.

No one has compared Bucholz to Halladay.

Aren't they waiting for you to empty the bedpans?

Like Buchholz, Roy Halladay made a fast impression, dominating in his second career start. He was penciled into the Blue Jays' starting rotation by the time he turned 23, but things didn't go as planned. Halladay posted a 10.64 ERA in 2000, and his problems might sound familiar. Opponents hit .405 with men on base, and he averaged almost six walks per nine innings.

But, the similarities don't end there. Halladay regained his confidence in the minors in 2001, finishing the year as a key member of the Toronto rotation. The difference? Fewer walks, more grounders and opponents hitting just .268 with men on base.

That puts Buchholz where Halladay was in 2002, when he went 19-7. In 2003, Halladay won the AL Cy Young Award.

Just another reason for Buchholz to smile.

Reading is fundamental. They arent saying that Buchholz is the next Halladay, but they sure as hell are trying to compare his big league start with Halladay's.

It's not reading that's fundamental. It's reading comprehension, which you lack. Read through the article ( i suppose you didn't read all of it, you usually don't, but immediately run your mouth) and notice that the comparison is used because of the "similar" career path, not because Bucholz will "be" the next Halladay. It's really not that difficult to comprehend.

Did you really say that they arent comparing him to Halladay, just pointing out similarities? Seriously, just admit defeat before you get your ankle and shin in your mouth, following your foot

Honest question: Are you stupid?

What i'm trying to say here is that the article is not a comparison between Halladay and Bucholz, but how, because of similar career paths and some statistical similarities, Bucholz could be primed for a breakout that could resemble Halladay's.

Premise A:

Bucholz will become the next Roy Halladay.

Premise B:

If X happens, Bucholz could have a breakout similar to Roy Halladay's.

Seem very different to me.

But it isnt different when you start putting pieces like this in the press. See what I mean here? It is all about expectation and a lot of fans arent knowledgable and a lot of players arent realistic or rational. It adds to the pressure in this pressure cooker.
