Because vetoing this trade was ********. I honestly don't care about winning or losing. I enjoy the negotiation of trading most of all.

If a deal that improves both teams is vetoed, and there is little to no activity in the league, and people don't even have the courtesy of declining a deal, then what's the point?

If I can't get a refund, then anyone send me any proposal. I will accept it. Who knows, you might get lucky.

As league commish, SFOC, you should have jumped in here.

The trade must have been unfair if only one side is complaining that it got vetoed. Just sayin.

What trades did I propose to you?

Whatever. You're being a baby.

Call me a baby if you will, that's your prerogative. If it was my ball, I'd take it and go home.

I sent out another trade to Bulldogs. If it gets rejected, I will no longer be an active league member. Don't bother with trade proposals, etc.

It's funny how people can all jump to veto a deal, but not have the courtesy to accept/decline/counter a deal that was sent to them two weeks ago.

you wanted my best starting pitcher ( scott baker ) ' date=' in return for joe blanton who's on the DL and a s***** closer who's name I cant remember[/quote']

That's how Gom trades. He somehow thinks it's fair, don't ask me how.

I'm sure Bulldogs will chime in here soon enough. We've talked in emails how it's ******** if it gets vetoed.

Honestly Gom, part of me is glad it got vetoed. I'm not mad about it. I liked the trade a lot more last night, but had some second thoughts today. However, I still have no problems trying to work out a trade with you. The thing about doing trades with Gom is that he responds to your offer quickly and you don't have to wait 2 or 3 days to hear back from him. That I do like and appreciate.

I said I wanted Baker or Danks. Blanton was in the deal, and he wasn't on the DL at the time. I think the RP was Perez. You wanted Street. You have only one closer. There was speculation that Perez would become Cleveland's permanent closer over Wood. It could still happen. Considering you have only one closer, it wouldn't have been a bad deal for you if Blanton had remained healthy.

Baker or danks >>> blanton

so I'm gona trade someone who * might * be a closer ?

I agree that Baker and Danks are better than Blanton. But not by a ton. Blanton had more quality starts than both of them last year (I think he had one more than Danks), and his ERA was lower than Baker's. He also had more strikeouts than Baker (one more) and Danks. And up until now, he has been very durable.

Perez is the closer for the Guardians right now. He's given me 3 net saves. He will continue to be the closer for at least another week. You have 1 net save from the last 2 weeks.

Which is why I was very happy to snag him off waivers a few weeks ago. He's coming back in a couple weeks.

That was a good pickup. I was hoping to get him back at some point, but you beat me to the punch.

You know what, MSU? If you had asked me to veto the deal after you slept on in, I would have accepted it and asked SFOC to veto the deal.

In the other league, I worked out a deal with Suns, and then the very next day, one of the players who I traded away went on the DL. As league commish, I simply vetoed the deal.

I have no problem cancelling ANY deal if the other party has second thoughts or reservation. However, in all the emails that went between us both during and after the trade, you never once expressed regret.

P.S. Thank you for the compliment.

I appreciate that. It's not a slight on you, I just didn't think you would be willing to go back on the trade that we agreed on last night. I knew you were excited at the thought of getting Granderson (a Yankee) so I didn't bother saying anything today when I had second thoughts. That was my fault.

Just for the record, I would gladly ok to veto a deal after it was done if the other party asked me to. That goes for anyone but Keeper.

It's not up to me to veto a deal. It's the league that votes.

You can't veto a deal as league commissioner?

Posted

By the way...this is a PM I got from a league member in the other league.

I saw that your trade in the other league was vetoed. What people don't understand is what you said in our league. Vetoing a trade should happen only when it is obviously imbalanced or lopsided. If a trade gives only a slight edge to one side or the other, it should be approved. The folks in your league don't understand that.

BTW, I think you're doing a fine job as commish of our league. Even if you are a friggin Yank fan.

Personally, I think everyone here should follow his lead.

That is correct. The veto power is by League vote. My only recourse if I thouight something was outrageous, would be to manually return players to their original teams.

Wow that sucks. ESPN allows you the league manager to approve or decline deals as well as having a league veto.

Jesus, a700's team is stacked with pitching. Aside from the obvious studs he has (Timmah, Wainwright, Beckett), it's possible Pelfrey has turned a corner with the splitter he's developed. Romero showed a lot of promise in the 1st half last year. This could be his breakout season. And I've always liked Slowey. Thought he was going to have his breakout season last year. I wasn't a believer in Wells, but he continues to pitch well. I still think he's due for a major regression, but he's proved me wrong so far.

If Pelfrey shows that he is for real in his next couple of starts, I'll be shopping some very good pitchers for trades (Wainright, Beckett, Romero, Slowey, and Pelfrey). Only Lincecum would be off the table.

You are going to drop pitchers?

If no one makes me offers, I'll just start dropping them.
