Red Sox Sign Joe Nelson

Red Sox signed RHP Joe Nelson to a minor league contract.

Nelson posted a 4.02 ERA and 1.46 WHIP in 40 1/3 innings for the Rays last season before the club designated him for assignment in September. He'll have a tough time cracking Boston's Opening Day roster but he's a fine emergency reliever should an injury happen on the depth chart above him.
