Another bad call. First, the goal for England should have been allowed since it was at least a yard past the line, and NOW, Argentina gets a goal by being offsides by a mile. Obviously the English goal wouldn't have made a difference in the game, but it's the principle of the thing.

Yeah, Portugal and Brazil in the same group made absolutely no sense, both are likely top 5 teams. At this point my power rankings would be:

Netherlands

Brazil

Spain

Argentina

Portugal

Germany

And I don't know after that

Could you put them in the order you would put them in? I just want to see different opinions

I'd do something like

Brazil

Spain

Portugal

I also think that Uruguay should be a team worth mentioning.

If it weren't for Brazil facing Chile in the round of 16, it would be possible (and quite likely) that all 5 of the South American teams in the World Cup would make it to the final 8. Now, if Paraguay beats Japan tomorrow, then 4 of the final 8 teams would be from South America.

It's funny, the 5 South American teams might be the most entertaining to watch too although you'd have to throw Germany in there too.

Brazil finally scores in the 34th minute, and then again in the 37th minute. We're going to see some great matches coming up with Spain vs. Portugal, Germany vs. Argentina, and the Netherlands vs. Brazil.

Is anyone rooting for a particular team still in the tournament? Since most of our countries are eliminated, I was wondering if anyone had any particular ties left. I'm pulling for Spain because I think that they are one of the best teams never to have won the World Cup (along with the Netherlands).

Paraguay beats Japan on Penalty Kicks. That means that half of the final 8 teams are from South America, and that 4 of the 5 South American teams made it to the final 8. The only one that didn't was Chile, who lost to Brazil.

Brazil vs. the Netherlands should be a crazy match.

Yeah, of the 5 teams that have looked really good, Spain gets the easy "in" to the semi-finals. It's a shame that two of Brazil, Netherlands, Germany, Argentina will be eliminated getting to the semi-finals.

This Brazil Netherlands match has been amazing. Started off with a little pushing and shoving, Brazil had an early goal that was (rightly) disallowed due to offsides, and then Brazil pushed a real goal in shortly at the 10th minute. Netherlands got an own goal from Brazil to tie it, and a great corner kick to take the lead in the 67th miunte. The Netherlands is leading Brazil 2-1 with around 20 minutes remaining.

This game gets even more testy as Felipe Melo (the guy responsible for the own goal) gets a red card. The Netherlands players have been diving and flopping like Argentinian basketball players, and one of the Netherlands guys held the ball on the ground to keep Brazil from quickly resetting, and Felipe Melo cleated the guy (Sneijder I think) on the ground.

Also, after a Netherlands player would dive, there would be a Brazilian player standing over him and yelling at him to get up. There's been pushing and shoving after a lot of collisions. And a Netherlands player just got booked for shoving a guy out of bounds.
