Drew has been worth every penny of his contract. He was a top-five OF last year, and top ten in 2008.

One of the best defensive OF's in the game today, and a monster at the plate (specially last year). I don't know what else he could do to live up to his contract.

I think the Sox are smart to let Saito go now. Let's all remember how big of a concern this guys arm was. Most of us who liked the signing of Saito last off season weren't convinced he could go a full season.

And also according to fangraphs, JD drew has out played his contract so far(42M actual salary, fangraphs value his last 3 seasons at 45M).

If a player that's top 10 amongst OF's in 2008 and top 5 in 2009 isn't putting up monster numbers, then i don't know what to tell you.
