MLB: Cal Ripken Jr., 2,632 games, May 30, 1982-September 19, 1998

 

NBA: A.C. Green, 1,192 games, November 19, 1986-April 17, 2001

 

NHL: Doug Jarvis, 964 games, October 8, 1975-October 10, 1987

 

NFL: Jim Marshall, 282 games/Brett Favre, 279 games, September 27, 1992-Present Day

 

Edit: Technically, Jeff Feagles holds the NFL record for consecutive games played, but he's a punter so...

I'm gonna have to bite the bullet and say Favre. He's had a target on his back that tells defensemen to kill him and hope for a fumble or turnover the whole time. No matter how good your offensive line is you're going to get beat up out there.

 

In descending rate of of awesome:

 

Favre/Marshall (football is a violent, violent game)

Jarvis (Hockey's the only game that actually allows brawls, and even the dead-run nature of the sport itself takes a harsh toll on the body)

Ripken (Playing most of it at SS doesn't make up for physical abuse Favre and Jarvis took playing)

Green (It's freaking basketball, someone touches you they blow a whistle)
