Red Sox acquire Hermida

According to Juan C. Rodriguez of The Sun Sentinel, the Red Sox have acquired Jeremy Hermida from the Marlins in exchange for minor league pitchers Hunter Jones and Jose Alvarez.

Hermida has some upside. But yeah, this is probably a bench player or last-ditch option to make sure that Reddick is in Pawtucket where he belongs.

it's weird, i had just finished reading an interview w/ Buster Homely at ESPN where he said the Red Sox won't do anything big this offseason, they'll 'just get a Jeremy Hermida type'.

I actually just realized Hermida is left handed bat. If Red Sox want to continue the stupidity of benching Drew vs lefties, then Baldelli might be back.

He's a below average player and bats left (which they don't need). But they didn't give up much for some valid outfield insurance.

We gave up nothing for him so its a decent deal. Left handed bat off the bench isn't too bad. He'll be a nice 4th IMO if he is still on the team come the start of the regular sesaon.
