Yup. He better pitch well, because not having Posada's bat will hurt. Burnett's numbers are significantly better with Molina catching, but it's also important to keep in mind that two of Burnett's most dominant starts of the year (@ NYM, vs. BOS) came with Posada catching.

So you lose Posada's bat for 2-3 ABs. Big deal - you also don't have as many passed balls which can also cost you runs...

Those were cross ups. That has nothing to do with Posada's defense. They might very well have been Sabathia's fault.

This whole thing sounds like it is pissing off Posada. I think it is funny because this might affect Posada in the long run. This is a dumb move, IMO.

Why is it a dumb move?

A lot of pitchers have had personal catchers.

If Burnett pitches better to Molina, then Molina has to catch him. Specially in the playoffs.

As Mitch Williams said on MLB Network last night, "If you can't bury Molina's bat in this lineup, you can't bury a bat in any lineup." Jeter, Damon, Teixeira, A-Rod, Matsui, Cano and Swisher will all still be hitting. Don't sweat it.

CC said afterwards that one was his fault and one Posada's. Truth is Molina could have been crossed up and still caught those balls.

Total conjecture. I've seen Molina crossed up numerous times, with the result being a passed ball/wild pitch.
