In my opinion all that stuff is rather irrelevant. The Twins might be better than the Tigers' date=' but the Tigers have a better chance to win a short series.[/quote']

Verlander is the only pitcher the Tigers have, and the Yankees have a few question marks. Even with the way Baker's pitched, he's probably an advantage over A.J. Burnett, and Sabathia has s*** the bed in the playoffs. I don't think either team has a zero chance of knocking off the Yankees

They played the Yankees tough earlier in the season' date=' and are hot right now, like I said before, I think they have the better chance.[/quote']

No way!! Like I just said, the Twins have no pitching at all..

I agree 100%. With their pitching anything could happen. I do not think they can beat the Yankees, but I think they can give a good fight and maybe go 5 games.

Lol' date=' if the Tigers do make the playoffs, I will get a kick out of the 150 pitches that Verlander is probably going to throw in Game 2.[/quote']

Don't lol, because it's gonna happen.

Porcello and Jackson are better than anything the Twins can throw out there. And the stats back it up.

Both teams have the chance of knocking off the Yankees. I'm one of the biggest proponents of the "crapshoot" theory on this site.

Also, I don't see why Baker is an advantage over Burnett, but they're not even going to be facing each other.

The Twins don't have the pitching to contain the Yankees.

Don't let the Twins fan inside you cloud your judgment.

Lol, dude Blackburn and Baker man, couple of beasts. What're you talking about?

The Tigers have Verlander, Jackson and Porcello. That is way better than anything the Twins could throw out there. Even with Jackson struggling, he still has a reasonable ERA, .362, I believe. With those three pitching anything could happen if they find some batting.

Also, playing in Yankees Stadium (little league park) they might find some offence.

You'd have to admit, though, that Jackson looks like he has hit a wall. I would be surprised if he was successful in the postseason.

Name 2 SPs from the Twins you'd trust more than Jackson.

Who btw has performed well against the Yanks in limited exposure.

Oh, I never said the Twins had better things to offer. But considering what he has done in September, I'm optimistic that the Yankees will hit him. The possibility of Verlander pitching a Game 5 scares me, but I do like the fact that Jackson will face Sabathia twice (at least once, probably twice).

Probably' date=' but you don't think the Twins are going to get blown out either? They have NO pitching at all.[/quote']

Read the thread.

I have already stated that either team will likely loose to the yankees.

Well I must have missed it.

Kubel just launched that, but otherwise Julio Lugo has looked good for Detroit. Too bad he didn't "earn" the right to pitch in this elimination game. They should have handed the ball to Bonderman, who has playoff experience.

lol, did someone suggest they should pitch Bonderman?

Nah' date=' it's a comparison to the Buchholz-Matsuzaka discussion.[/quote']

I can't believe so many people are bent over that discussion.

Really? You don't think that Baker is possibly better than Rick Porcello?

Porcello's 1.345 WHIP sucks, Baker's at 1.186, and your boy Verlander's at 1.175.

Yeah, Baker's given up more homers and has a higher ERA, but Baker's ERA has been under 4 since the all star break, which is rarely taken into consideration.

HRs allowed.

GO/AO ratio.

GB%

LHH-RHH split.

ERA+

All in Porcello's favor.

Yup, Verlander sucks! 19 wins in the AL and 240 K's is trash. You are right!

f***, I would take Baker over Verlander any day now.
