Not really that surprising. They played Cleveland and Detroit the first two games and he didn't attempt hardly any passes over 5 yards.

This as well, and he didn't even crack 200 yards until he passed for the 300 against the 9'ers

While the hyperbole from Jaworski has been over the top, Favre has been excellent. The arm is still big, and it's been accurate. His WRs get the ball in stride and can do something after the catch.

The PI call was awful, but they also called offside on the play, so it would have been their ball anyway. Never saw a replay of the offside call, so I won't pass judgment there.

Game actually lived up to the hype.

The bigger game is when the Vikes go to GB. That game is going to be insane. That is the one Favre wants IMO.

I dont think Ive despised a proffessional athlete more than Brett Favre.

Maybe Ulf Samuelson, perhaps Mark Gastineau,Fran Tarkenton comes to mind but this guy blows them all away easily.

I cant wait for December to come around when the gutty Favre is under pressure and limps off the field after his 3rd pick of the 1st half against a team that comes after him balls to the wall.

I will not deny his energy, his arm strength or his #s.

Its simply a matter of character and him being 2 Desmond Howard kickoff returns away from being Jim Kelly and Dan Fouts bastard offspring.

So I am guessing, you would like him to be the QB on your favorite team?:harhar:

Yeah,he could play touch football with us over at Fino field in our annual thanksgiving day battle.

I'd even let him play quarterback for us.

maybe we can have a couple of yellow labradors running around and we'll all be dressed in wrangler jeans while driving Ford pickups.

it would distract our wives from bitching about how much we drank the night before with them asking us ""Who is that backward ass country f*** and who in Gods name wears Wranglers in 2009""

Agreed. If it's cold at Lambeau when they play, and it will be cold, Favre will not have his way like he did yesterday.

LMFAO!

Awesome! Favre was excellent, 24/31, 271, and the defense sacked Rodgers 8 times, 4.5 for Jared Allen. That man is a beast!

Really? You don't think there's a chance he won't play harder due to the fact that he wants this more than anything right now? I think when you leave a team under bad circumstances, chances are, the next time you play them, and especially in a game such as football, you're going to give it everything, and then some.

Brett Favre had a big year with the Packers, and he wanted to come back, and they gave him nothing. They were smart by not letting him go to the Vikings, I'll admit that, but when your star player wants to play another year, and is still evidently at the top of his game, you don't just tell him that there's no place for him. It was said that they even tried to buy him off into retiring. How tacky is that?

I think with what happened there, Favre wants this game, probably more than anything else. I'm not saying that's a good thing or a bad thing, but Favre wants to beat the Packers a lot.

You're so wrong it hurts.

In case you haven't noticed, QB is not the issue with the Packers right now. It's pretty much everything else.

Yeah but they had no idea Rodgers was going to be as stellar as he has been, and Favre was coming off damn good season. The way they treated him was tacky, considering he was the fan favorite, and easily the greatest QB in Packers history. Overall, I'm just glad that he's here now, as our problem was the exact opposite. All the talent in the world, great defense, great running game, great offensive and defensive line. Well then you look at our QBs and... Yeah... Terrible. I just wish we would have kept Matt Birk. How we let him slip away was beyond me, especially considering that he wanted to play for us this season.

How do you know what they expected out of Rodgers? He was a first round draft pick. They probably had very high expectations, and realized all along that he was the future of the franchise.

As for Favre, his mistakes finally caught up to him in that last year. He retired, the Packers moved on, giving the job to Rodgers, and then he decided he wanted to come back. I don't blame the Packers at all. They were caught in a tough position, and I believe they made the right decision.

What?

No love for Bart Starr?

And so was Ryan Leaf, as were a lot of guys who never succeeded. You don't just give the ball to someone who might flop in favor of a guy who's pretty much a sure thing every season.

Brett Favre can be considered the greatest QB of all time, Bart Starr is a legend, but he cannot.

How was Brett, playing outside, a sure thing after 2007? Ryan Leaf is one example. Eli Manning, Ben Roethlisberger, Philip Rivers, Matt Ryan, Joe Flacco, Carson Palmer, Peyton Manning, Jay Cutler, and Drew Brees are all examples of QBs playing today who were drafted high and have performed well to possibly the GOAT.
