Thornton was re-signed to a 2 year deal. Its good to have tough guy, enforcer types on the team.

Seidenberg was re-signed to a 4 year deal. Thats a great move, its sures up the defense and he is a big guy out there. Boychuk needs to come back but I'm not sure if he will. Right now for D you have: Chara, Seidenberg, Wideman, Ference, Hunwick, that leaves you with Stuart (RFA?) and Boychuk. I'd take Stuart and Boychuk both over Ference but whats done is done. McQuaid is also NHL ready as 3rd liner. If Boychuk doesn't take what the Bruins offer him, I don't think they bring him back.

i've heard crazy rumors that the Bruins would trade their 2nd 1st round pick, Savard, and Wheeler to Columbus for the 4th overall pick and draft Cam Fowler.

Heard a Thomas+ to Washington for Semin rumor over at HFBoards.

Mostly on the Boston side though so take that with the required hill of salt. Basically, I think that someone combined "the Caps are shopping Semin" with "the Bruins are taking offers for Thomas" without thinking it all the way through.

IMO we'd have to add A LOT to Thomas to even have Washington consider making that trade.

Once the Blues picked up Halak, I see no more viable places for Thomas to go.

The Caps *will* push for Bergeron instead of Thomas. That's my honest opinion.

And if we drafted Tyler Seguin, I would do it. I might be in the minority though. I'd give up Bergeron, Stuart, and a high pick other than #2 for Semin and not feel too bad about it -- even with Semin's well known issues bringing him in makes us contenders.

OUT: Bergeron, Stuart, #15

IN: Hall/Seguin, Semin

Plus it makes our choice of Boychuk/Stuart plain as day, and opens the door for Boychuk to get back.

There are multiple teams that have a need for a starting goaltender.

Not all of them are going to be willing to risk the bargain bin either. Everyone knows what Thomas is when healthy, someone should be willing to take a risk that TT can put up a couple more strong years.

Hell of an offseason so far.

IN: Seguin, Horton, Campbell

OUT: Wideman, Begin, Satan

Re-upped: Boychuk, Recchi, Seidenberg

Lucic - Savard - Horton

Ryder/Wheeler - Krejci - Seguin

Recchi - Bergeron - Sturm

Thornton - Sobotka - Campbell

Chara - Boychuk

Seidenberg - Stuart

Ference - Hunwick

Rask

Thomas

That's a hell of a team.

I got a Hail Satan shirt. Wish he would be back just for that sole reason, so the shirt would have relevance haha. Good to see Recchi back. So many crazy rumors with the Bruins, last I heard is Thomas/Savard in a package deal to Toronto and in part of the return we get Phaneuf. Why trade Savard when you can just put Seguin on the wing? No one right now on the team can match Savard's point totals when healthy. And if you trade him to Toronto, that makes them better, and lets not forget we have their 1st round pick next year too. Just try and trade Thomas for another winger or puck handling defense man.

Mark Stuart is coming back for one year at 1.675 million. He was pretty steady when he wasn't hurt last year. He's not a bad puck mover either, Chara-Seidenburg, Boychuk, Stuart, Hunwick, Ference. Thats not a bad defense at all

Wheeler and the B's are still waiting on the arbiters decision. Unless its a number the B's like, I imagine they will let him become and UFA, don't know what we could get for him if we accept the contract and try to trade him

Wheeler awarded 2.2 mil in arbitration.

Honestly, this isn't bad, it's a little less than I thought he'd get and way less than I was willing to pay if necessary. I'm not for giving up on the guy at this point when a lot of players break out in their third or fourth years.

Wheeler's got his flaws, but the overall package is decent, especially when you factor in that Wheeler played in every zone, every situation and every game. I think there's a number of guys you need to look to clear off the cap long before you worry about wheeler earning a bit over 2 mil. Ryder springs to mind almost immediately.

I really like what I've seen out of Knight and I think he could replace Ryder with similar production right out of the box. He could stand to work through Juniors and the A to pick up a more complete game, but if all you want is a guy who rushes the net and plays a tough reckless game a la Chuck Kobasew. Knight's that guy already. Jordan Caron's another guy who could come up if he needed to, but I like Knight's style just a little more. I think a Wheeler-Krejci-Knight line could be really, really good in a couple years.

Anyway, point being that the easy odd man out in this situation is Ryder. Clearing Ryder gets you under the cap with more than enough space to also add Seguin, and we have enough contracts coming off the books that the buyout hit (if it comes to that) doesn't hurt us that badly. And we have a couple options to replace him with a young player that makes a fifth of what he does if we go that route.

Oh, and Wheeler is officially inked as of this morning, the Bruins did... whatever they need to to not walk away from the deal. He's a Bruin, folks, might as well get used to it.

Tyler Seguin was signed today. Financial terms of the three-year, entry-level deal were not released, but it was reportedly in the neighborhood of the contract No. 1 overall draft pick Taylor Hall signed with the Edmonton Oilers that will pay him $900,000 a year with bonuses that could bring it to a total of $3.75 million. Done Deal

Ok, so they are now 6 million over the cap (including bonuses).....

any bruins fans?

they won their first exhibition game of the year 4-2 against the habs. the new guy horton scored the first goal, boychuck scored the second and bergeron scored the other two. seguin got an assist

Posted

Tuukka looked very nice, both goals were on odd man rushes, one was a large f*** up by Bumwick.

Bergeron, Seidenberg, Horton, and Paille looked very good tonight, and I cannot wait to see them in the regular season.
