What the sweep allowed was the sox to actually celebrate their wild card berth. Cause if they were still in play for the East' date=' and clinched a playoff berth, would they have celebrated or no?[/quote']

Who really cares about the celebration crap?

They would have (and should have) celebrated whenever they get into the playoffs. It has been a good year, another mid-90's win season for Tito and the Sox FO and their core of players. It is definitely worthy of celebration whenever and whereever they are.

They would have, because their chances of winning the division would have been remote. Think back to the 2007 Yankees.

Beckett v. Richmond.

Call me crazy, got a good feeling about this.

at least if and when we clinch it will be at home. it would be nice to do it front of our deserving hometown fans. we are home the rest of the year so it will happen. i hope its because we win not because texas loses.

Screw a celebration, they still need to stay focused on the goal. I could care less about making the playoffs unless we actually win a championship. Honestly, if we were to lose game 7 of the World Series, I would rather just not have made the playoffs in the first place. Less heart-wrenching and less wasted time. Making the playoffs is meaningless without the ring... at least for us big market teams.

are you kidding me? when did you get that yankee fan snense of entitlement?

Seriously. Making the playoffs is what teams play the regular season for. It's never a waste of time.

I think that the playoffs are pretty awesome. Lots of good baseball is played, the best teams fighting each other. Why the hell not celebrate making the playoffs? It's what the regular season is all about. In turn, the playoffs is all about the World Series.

per Ian Browne's Twitter' date=' Beckett scratched rom tonight's start. Bowden to start[/quote']

Ugh. Is he hurt?

EDIT: Back spasms but they shouldn't be too serious. Still, how awesome is it that our two best pitchers have some sort of injury?

Is it me or are the Sox falling apart?? This a bad time to start looking like s***; we aren’t playing well at all and guys to start getting injured.

I really hope we can turn it around this last week because the Yanks showed me a lot these last couple of days and I am not so confident anymore. Also, I hope Beckett, Lester and Lowell are going to be ok for the playoffs.
