Congrats on the division.

I guess the Yankees fans can breathe a sigh of relief. Would have been embarrassing if they didn't make the playoffs.

Still have to win in October though. Which has been the issue.

You're right. 26 championships...we just suck in October. Always have.

No championships in the last 7 postseason appearances and winless in the last 3 postseason series. That's all he's pointing out and you know it. Don't be a needless dick.

The hell you say. What they did 80 years ago assures success in 2009.

You know what they say, you get what you pay for and thats all the loser yankees did, they bought another AL East title by buying the 3 biggest free agents on the market this past offseason. I wouldnt want my team to win like that.

I'd have no problem with the Sox buying the biggest players in the game if they "Won".

What difference does it make?

What would bother me? If the Sox spent a fortune and did not "Win".

Which is what the Yankees have been doing for a while.

That said, the Yankees are probably the best team in the AL and a favorite to win it all.

Why not?

I would of been jumping off my ceilings if the red sox landed TEX

so you would rather not win then going out and spending money and win?

Because they won all 26 of those championships as of late

Exactly this, and what Spudboy said.

However, the Yankees have been spending money, and not winning, that's what makes them so much of a joke, it's when they lose.

Also, I think it's just a lot less impressive when the Yankees win it, partially because of the fact that they've always had the highest payroll, and they have bought championships for years.

Get a grip. In the last 30 years, the Yanks have won 4 championships and the Red Sox have won 2. About 10% of this forum's membership is over age 30, and even less remember any championships prior to '96. In the last 10 years, the Yanks and the Red Sox each have won 2 World Championships. In the last 5 years the score is Red Sox 2 Yankees 0.

Exactly. How long can you possibly use the success of the team's history as a point in an argument when literally the only things today's Yankees have in common with those teams is the uniform?

.

They complain when we use 2004, yet have the audacity to base their argument on teams that had Mickey Mantle or Babe Ruth in them

This is great. None of this takes away from the fact that your team s*** the bed against us this year after being up 8-0.

Yanks on top of the AL East. All is right with the universe.

In a week, we both know that will mean absolutely nothing.

Current observations of galatic movement shows the expansion of the universe described by the Big Bang Theory is actually accelerating. We are drifting out into a void of nothingness, and the drift is getting faster.

The universe is f***ed.

Good season. Still plenty of work to be done though...11 more wins and then the celebration can really begin.

11 more wins ?

so 5 the rest of the season and 6 in the playoffs . that works for me

But you guys were still down 8-0. So I guess you could say you guys started the season off s***ing the bed. Not to mention that wasn't even the point, which was that according to you, the Yankees' World Championships, all 26 of them, have an impact on how they've been playing in the playoffs as of late. It doesn't. They've failed in the playoffs as of late. For god's sake they've been beaten by the Marlins, blown a 3-0 lead, and have been winless their past few times in. That's failure. We're talking recent history, not ancient history. The Babe and The Iron Horse and The Clipper and The Mick are all gone man!

He never said that the Yankees' prior championships will have any impact on 2009.

He replied to a post that was basically "They have sucked in October recently" with "We have 26 World Series titles".

OK, and where does he say those championships have an impact on today, as you claimed he said?

I said as of late

the Yankees' World Championships, all 26 of them, have an impact on how they've been playing in the playoffs as of late.

I never claimed he said that those championships have an impact RIGHT FRIGGIN NOW. But he was implying that they somehow did have an impact on how they've played recently, which doesn't make sense in the least, because they've played very poorly recently in October. We weren't talking about over the past 80 years. We're talking recently, which I consider the past 5 or so years personally.

Posted
I don't think that was his implication at all. I don't think there was any implication. He's trying to instigate and gloat by talking about the Yankees' championships. Nothing more, nothing less.

Your call, just looks like someone was trying to make an implication, but that's just me : p
