It's hard to argue that. But I honestly don't see them moving Buchholz anymore. So that deal might not be obtainable. Unless your sending Dice-K back. Then maybe there's enough to build a package around:dunno:

 

I think the Mets might do Ellsbury for Beltran straight up. Ellsbury isn't nearly the player that Beltran is/was, but at 32, with a huge contract, injury prone etc., and Ellsbury being cost controlled and flashy, I could see that being a fine match for the Mets, who are having money problems as far as I know. I'm not sure the Sox would take that on, though looking at Beltran's numbers he's a very good player, even with reduced speed. At 25 + HRs and 100 + RBI he'd be another Victor Martinez type... nothing to scoff at.

 

Reyes might be in a similar boat. Both are riskier for the Sox than the Mets, so that could give them some leverage.

They picked up Francoeur, so Reddick would likely be interesting to them. I've heard someone speculate in the past that they'd be interested in Kalish as well.

 

I'd rather not deal Ellsbury unless we had to, or unless we got Jose Reyes back. Even if we did get Reyes back, the prospect of a 1-2-3 in the lineup of Ellsbury, Reyes and Beltran would score us a lot of runs.

I think the team should stick with Ellsbury in CF. I'm not sold on Beltran being able to play there every day going forward. An OF defense of Beltran(LF), Ellsbury(CF), Drew(RF) could really cover some ground in the OF.

 

Like Dojji mentioned, Ellsbury, Reyes and Beltran at the top of the order should really produce a lot of runs in theory. It be fun to watch:D

It would certainly be helpful to building a lineup that is elite at scoring runs both the new way (OBP/SLG) and the old way (speed and contact)
