Don't worry you won't do anything in sports at minnesota for a long time with tubby smith and whoever your football coach is.

I know I've slammed the South before' date=' but I also think college football is bigger there.[/quote']

Football, yes, sports in general, not really.

Even in football, the North has OSU, Michigan, Michigan State, etc.

Teams with huge followings.

I know that pretty much every team in the SEC has a massive following, but I don't think that you can really say college sports in general have a bigger following in the South.

I'd take you seriously if you weren't a Cavs/Browns/Guardians fan.

If you don't think Tayshaun was at least legendary at UK then I'm not sure what legendary means to you.

I was just refering to Football, not basketball or any other sports.

Historical Teams from the North (let me know if I miss anything)

Notre Dame

Michigan

Ohio State

Wisconsin

Penn State

Michigan State

UConn

BC

I know Im missing alot but those are the teams with big followings off the top of my head

Southern Teams

Texas

Oklahoma

Texas A&M

Nebraska(could be considered with the north)

LSU

Tennessee

Alabama

Florida

Georgia

TCU

Florida State

Miami

Auburn

all of these have followings of people, even if some of the teams aren't as great as they used to be they have massive fan bases and die hard fans, I know more about the South than the North, so I may be biased, and I don't know about as many of the teams from the north so please mention any that I may have left out.

University Of Minnesota has 6 National Titles, all of them from the start of National Title play to 1960.

They're pretty much historic... Just Ancient Historic.

And most consider Nebraska to be in the North.

And isn't USC South, too?

Syracuse... North

Didnt count USC, because USC isn't what most people would consider "The South" and their fans aren't as passionate about it as, say a, die hard Bama or LSU fan.

They have a pretty historic program if you count their players, and they have a strong following, but they're more known for producing some really great NFL talent, like Donovan McNabb, Dwight Freeney, Marvin Harrison, Ernie Davis and Jim Brown... Ernie Davis, though, never really got a chance to excel in the NFL... Sad story.

true but they aren't Southern and the fans aren't as rabid.

I agree that it's probably not considered the South... But I disagree about how passionate their fans are. They have a crazy environment, and they've had success for a number of years now.

They've become the Evil Empire, which seems to take away from the fan atmosphere somehow. See Yankees, Patriots.

Lane Kiffin to USC.

The reaction of some of the UT fans is absolutely hilarious. There are few things funnier in life than enraged/sad/shocked rednecks. I give you some videos. Watch these:

And apparently one of the UT basketball players has been tweeting updates from outside Neyland Stadium where a huge crowd of students have gathered. They lit a big mattress on fire, lol.

This is great.

Edit: more redneck Vol fans are putting up videos. Links are in my first post.

I cannot stop laughing.

that is funny. Good luck to him. I like the guy who was at Oregon state Coach Gundy. Bring him to the Vols.

USC is going downhill' date=' fast.[/quote']

Why Is that? I think Kiffin will make an excellent College Coach, especially with A. his pops running that Defense. and B. his already promising recruiting skills in a mediocre SEC team adding to one of the best recruiting pipelines in the nation. I think Kiffin has some potential, but I've lost some respect for him now, he just completely f***ed all those kids who decided not to commit to Florida, Bama, and LSU so that they could play for him.

He has some recruiting skills, but he hasn't really proven jack s*** so far. Pete Carrol had great recruiting skills too. USC has been going downhill for about 3 years now. I don't think Lane Kiffin, of all people, is going to change that. He's young, and hasn't proven a thing as a head coach anywhere. And Tennessee has always been a competitive team, with a solid recruiting pipeline. Also, he went 7-6, and got blown out in his bowl game.

I know it was his first (and only) year at Tennessee, but to say that he's proven anything at this point is outrageous. Not to mention his time in Oakland.

Not saying Lane Kiffin is a bad coach, but more than anything, that he's completely unproven, especially to be coaching a powerhouse like USC.

Pete Carroll will suck at the NFL level again for the next few years, then return to the college level to take college football's most challenging task - getting Notre Dame back on track (after they get fed up with and fire Kelly).

I was thinking the same thing earlier today while chuckling to myself, I hate Notre Dame, its taken this long just to get me to not hate Lou Holtz, and thats only because he's a homer to the point that its just comedic, Lou has predicted ND to win the BCS for the past 3 years lol.
