Dipre' date=' stick to law. Tommy John surgery replaces the ulnar collateral ligament. Not the nerve. Sometimes you need to transposition the nerve due to pain, but that is a different surgery altogether. Also, when they get into the elbow, they will get a chance to see how strong the UCL is. AND, I was going off the reports saying he needed Tommy John. So, yeah, go screw[/quote']

They FEARED he would need TJ. I just think the "AHHHHHHHHHHHHROFLCOPTER TOLD YOU GOM!!!!!!! SUCK ON MY CROWWWWWWWWWW" to Gom was a bit premature.

Although I'd still like to see proof that Cashman turned down a package of Cabrera + bag boys for Santana

See,champ.

Stick to being an idiot.

Cashman laid it on the line last yr saying that it was Melky and Hughes plus 2 of a group of 4 or 5 prospects.

Dumbass...could you be more....of a dumbass? Have we, as a species...perfected the dumbass and call it Jacko?

Bob Klapisch had reported it. The NJ Bergen record is undergoing maintainence, so this is the best I can do until the site is back up and running, but here is proof that Klapisch wrote it...and I've read the article and quoted it before

Here is the link from MLBTraderumors that referenced the same article.

Klapisch said the Twins' last-ditch proposal to the Yankees was for Ian Kennedy, Melky Cabrera, and a top prospect.

http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2008/01/twins-wanted-wa.html

Here you go...I posted this originally 10/21/2008. Post 191. Here it is in full:

Read the link of what the Yankees idiot GM turned down, and what may have cost the Sox the chance at the World Series.

Bob Klapisch reports:

Cashman is a moron

For those of you that are too lazy to read it, here are exerpts:

Twins' general manager Bill Smith, in a panic to move Johan Santana, called the Yankees and admitted surrender: Phil Hughes was no longer a prerequisite, he said. Instead, the Twins asked for Ian Kennedy, Melky Cabrera and a top prospect. Would the Yankees still be interested, Smith wondered?

The Yankees considered the idea, but only briefly and not seriously. Their passion for Santana started waning as far back as December, when Andy Pettitte announced he was returning to the Bronx. The Yankees' internal straw vote was unanimous: The Twins had waited too long. On Tuesday Yankees' GM Brian Cashman told Smith he was passing on the deal, prompting the Twins to call the Red Sox. Equally devastating news awaited. Both Jacoby Ellsbury and Jon Lester were unavailable.

Here is how it went down:

Smith called Cashman. Asked for Ian Kennedy, Melky Cabrera, Hilligoss, and Marquez. Cashman said no.

He called Epstein. Asked for Ellsbury, Lowrie, Masterson and another prospect. He was turned down.

Both teams would have benefited tremendously if they made the deal. Both teams lost. Both teams are watching the World Series on TV.

One GM is lauded for not making the deal and then giving up one of the best right-handed hitters of all time for an above average OF. The right fielder single-handedly carried his team to the 2nd round of the playoffs.

The other GM staked his job on the non-move, and watched his team finish in 3rd place and out of the playoffs since 1993. He proceeded to not sign his first round pick this season, which he throws away if his team signs two free agents. If he had signed his 1st round pick this year, he would have only lost only one pick. His reward? A contract extenstion.

I just threw up on my keyboard.

The link doesn't work any longer, but I gave you two sources that said the same thing. So Jacko...please....SHUT THE f*** UP. I would trade those players NOW for an injured Santana. No sane baseball person wouldn't [even though we no longer have Marquez, but it's hypothetical].

Now...shut up and let the big boys talk about baseball.

I contend this, directed to Jacko, constitutes the greatest line in Talksox history.

Well done, sir.

Wait, so Bill Klapisch had info that NOBODY else had and NOBODY else confirmed? And you believe it, well, because, it HAS to be right. Even after Cashman denied it prior to the start of the 2008 season, BEFORE Kennedy and Melky's stock went in the shitter. Cashman has ALWAYS said that Hughes was the centerpiece of the deal. EVERY TIME. He has not wavered. And he has maintained that since right after the deal was made with the Mets. So you will take the word of one writer, even though most other writers refuted it and Cashman has refuted it EVERY time. You are such a moron, you believe what you want to believe. 2009 would be shot if we had Johan. No Hughes, no CC, Johan on the DL, we'd be f***ed.

So now you deny what Klapisch said..because it doesn't fit into what your small brain wants to believe?

By the way, Gammons also confirmed it. That wouldn't matter...nothing matters, because to you, what Cashman says is the gospel truth.

Of course Cashman will refute it. Even he's not that dumb to realize that he f***ed up and to admit it would cost him his job.

I fail to see why we wouldn't have been able to get CC and Johan. We probably wouldn't have had Burnett. We also probably make the playoffs last year...and maybe even the World Series.

Right now, we have one marginal CF instead of Johan...and, you, of all people should realize that bone chips is not that big of a deal. How about Kennedy and his aneuyerism?

It only works for you if it fits in your vision, doesn't it? Would you rather have Johan RIGHT now or Melky, Hilligoss, Marquez, and Kennedy? Even as he goes under the knife? I thought so.

So when the guy comes back and wins the NL Cy Young next year, and Hughes is struggling along like Joba did this year...what will you say then? I never even discussed the Hughes part..but Ian Kennedy? The guy you thought was better than Lester?

Ok, tough guy. Now go play with your legos.
