I don't believe that a700hitter's original suggestion was unreasonable. Suggesting that Pedroia play after his wife gave birth doesn't sound that outrageous.

I bet a lot of people would also call him an irresponsible douche if he came to the Toronto series while his wife, who had complications with the pregnancy, gave birth to their first child.

Been there. Done that. It's an amazing feeling, but as you point out, it was all about you. It was your feeling and emotion. A thrill? Yes, but a self indulgent one IMO.

I don't have a problem with a700's original statement either. I'm just saying that in Pedroia's case, especially his case considering the health concerns of his wife, he's more than justified to take 3 days off to be with his family to make sure everything is okay. It's not only about the child, it's also about his wife.

 

That said, this thread is closed now since the next game started. This conversation can be continued in the current GT if someone wants to do so.
