and Ortiz claims he didn't know about the positive even though it's been reported that every player who tested positive was informed by MLB.

unnecessary comment.

And everything the media reports is true, eh?

The union guy said they were not informed of player names, only the number of positive results. Believe it or not. ;)

=I am, however, saying that judging someone's character via these stupid news conferences is like believing the guy across the street is a drug dealer because he has a lot of friends over at midnight. Get off the conjecture high character horses, people. What if you were accused, and you knew you were innocent? No matter what you said, do you think anyone would believe you?

I had a neighbor like that. Cars would come by at night and he would come out to the car with a paper bag exchange the minimum amount of words and go back in his house. The guy worked in the financial sector in NYC and lived in the suburbs on Long Island. A couple of years later, he bought some property nearby and built a huge new house while he was still living on my block. I still have my suspicions.

That's not what was reported today. The Union stated that the players were not told. Did you watch, or did you make up your mind without listening.

unnecessary comment.
The God comment was something that Andy said, not me. I agree it was unnecessary and irrelevant to his steroid use, but he chose to tell the press that he prayed to God before he injected himself.

LOL....paper bags...some situations generate more suspicion than others, of course.

But I'm a night owl, and I used to have late working friends who came over at 10pm and left at 3am to watch movies. Sometimes they'd bring Doritos, extra packs of nicotine, and soda/beer in plastic grocery bags. Also, they dressed like ruffians. hehehe

I'm a vampire myself. The situation in my neighborhood never involved anyone going in the house. It was always a drive by. it's not like his house was a drive through window with long line of traffic. Nevertheless, it was suspicious. The guy was a bit of a weirdo. On Halloween, the teens were doing their thing with eggs, shaving cream etc. Someone egged the guys car. He came out with a bat and punched the kid in the face. He was a 13 year old kid. I didn't see it, and he is lucky that I didn't, but a number of the neighborhood kids told me about it.

Ortiz got f***ed over by those weasel lawyers that leaked this information. This stuff is still sealed so he can't access the information to clear his name. I'll tell you why I tend to believe him. With regard to ARod' date=' he could not take the chance of making this argument because he was the subject of an investigative book and the author may have had other corroborating evidence of steroid use. Ortiz puts himself on the line today that no other incriminating evidence will come out. If it does, he'll look really bad. Regardless of what the 2003 tests showed and regardless of whether he took steroids in 2003, he has passed every test since then.[/quote']

Love the avatar.

He tested clean in every year since 2003, so how do you conclude that he was clearly juicing in those big years? You do realize that he suffered a very serious wrist injury last year right? Maybe you should make a better effort of trying to make conclusions that are logically based on the facts.

How do you know he was "clean" those years? Are you the guy testing these players?

The public has very little information to go by.

I know he had a wrist injury. I also know Nomar had a wrist injury. Nomar also was a suspected juicer. Wrist injuries and other types of muscle injuries are known side effects of steroid use.

Where is the test evidence that clears these guys? That's what the public needs.

Maybe you should make a better effort to be objective. I'm not concluding anything.

Because if he had tested positive, he would have been suspended. Duhh! A testing program with suspensions has been in place after 2003. Did you listen to the press conference? One of the facts given was that Papi has tested about 15 times since 2003 and his results have all been negative for PED's. He also voluntarily subjected himself twice to the stricter Olympic standard of testing for the WBC and he passed those tests as well. Did you come here to be an uninformed irritating moron?

Is it true that Ortiz's DR trainer is a walking roid pharmacy? Isn't he the one that MLB banned?

Frankly, as much as I have always been an Ortiz fan, I don't know why anyone would believe this supplement story.

He works at sports facility in the DR that Ortiz uses. He's not Ortiz'z trainer. From what I have read, all of the Dominican guys use this facility, but maybe Dipre can shed some light on this.

He's a walking roid supply indeed.

It was proven, however, that Ortiz or any other member of his DWL team has never purchased steroids from him.

He kept a strict diary of the sales he made, and who he made them to, and an official source here in the DR got ahold of this information, Ortiz was nowhere to be found, Jose Guillen, however.........

I don't know if he looked like a "douche". I feel like I'm being torn in two directions. Part of me wants to believe Ortiz, and it is both true that he never tested positive AND was tested for WBC twice which seems to be in his favor. Also, if down the road we did find out what he tested positive for and it was steroids, his reputation would be ripped to shreds. Would he want to risk that rather than just putting things out on the table???

However, as we've seen with these things in the past, it's pretty hard to take anyone for their word. It's a tough call.

All I can say is this...

Ortiz made ARod seem honorable.

What a douche.

You're the biggest idiot in the history of, well.......ever.

There are tons of things at GNC that would trip off a drug screen and tons of supplements that are pro-steroids. I had a kid once' date=' who was "roiding out" on a supplement from GNC. Thinking nothing of it, I kinda blew it off initially. But he had the bottle, unfortunately, the name escapes me. But the dosing regimen is a cycle on, cycle off dosing. And when you look at the chemical composition and its degradation products, it was metabolized to an anabolic steroid. Over the counter at GNC. Thats the thing. The US makes specific drugs illegal. But it takes awhile for that to occur. So, in the meantime, these companies will make supplements that get around the specific bans and make bank until the new product is shut down. It is amazing. It is entirely possible that Ortiz tested positive for a steroid without actually intending on taking steroids. Even if that is the case, the fact would remain that he was "juiced" during his early Boston run.[/quote']

If his story is true, it was probably androstenedione. This wasn't made a controlled substance by the FDA until 2004. It was available at GNC before then. I should know, me and half my platoon bought it at the GNC on base when I was in the Marine Corps. When you go overseas, there's only 3 things to do. Drink, workout, or go to church. I did a lot of the first two.

It's very possible whatever triggered the response was bought over here.

Then again, it's just conjecture.

It's just as possible that he bought it over here.

Don't see how it's any different than what Pettite said' date=' other than that Andy admitted to taking HGH and Ortiz denying he took any steroids.[/quote']

Pettitte said he only took it once, and then that was discovered to be a lie.

His story was true. I had the bottle. And it wasnt andro. I had never heard of it before' date=' but it shared a common pathway with nandralone. And this was May 2009[/quote']

Holy f***ing s***.

Such objectivity.

My eyes are burning!

Are you watching this

I don't take back what I said about Ortiz being a huge disappointment now that he has been placed in this situation, but I give him respect for admitting his wrongdoing and apologizing for it.

Certainly better than ARod's, certainly better than Pettitte's.

Are you kiddin me? Ortiz is lying! How can U be contrite about something when you are lying about something? At least Arod told the truth.

Ortiz should be as truthful, he should just turn around and say he bought steroids from his DR, and injected it into his gluteous maximus just like arod did. Heck he should go all the way and admit him and arod are good friends and have steroid parties together and inject each others gluteous maximuses.
