Van deMeer, by the way, was an average pitcher for his times. Career W-L record 119-121. Never a 20 game winner. If Buchholz isn't better, Theo has overrated him.

why exactly isnt Bowden starting instead?

That is a good question!

My guess is that Bowden has not made the progress this year that they have expected of him.

I certainly don't know. I should really have spent some time at McCoy this year. I've had the summer off and I live about 11 miles away.

I'm still very interested in seeing Tazawa start. I think he may be what is needed now. Options do appear sort of thin at the moment.

I think it's kind of ironic that a Kid that made the decision to come here largely because his idol pitches here is now in the rotation and the idol is not. Also, the Sox now have 4 Japanese pitchers. Is that a first for a MLB team?

Actually excited to see him start and see what hes got but' date=' don't exactly like throwing him in there right away, if he has a rough outing really could set him back hes still a baby (still excited)[/quote']You are excited about being at a disadvantage in a key game in the penant chase? I don't get what is exciting about that.

It's not like we have a choice or any better options besides maybe Bowden and I don't see a significant upgrade there, so why not embrace it and hope the kid pitches well, no use getting upset about it

I wish that I could be like that. I see the inevitable train wreck that will occur and it gives me heartburn before it happens.

Not an optimist just trying to be rational, I know what your saying that this could turn out to be a train wreck but, do you really not see our offense heating up again. And like iv'e been saying we have Beckett and Lester who are both clutch and reliable heading our rotation and clay showed promise Saturday If we can win 3 out of every 5 games we will win the wildcard, that means 2 wins from lester and Beckett and 1 from Clay penny and whoever the f*** we throw out there

You bitch about the young guys pitching in important games. You bitch about the veterans they brought in so that maybe they young guys didn't get thrown into the fire right away.

You would only stop bitching if they had sold the farm for Lee or Halladay.

Considering what's available. I think they could get the same results with the young guys as they could with any veteran SP right now.

I'm not sure, but didnt the young guy (tazawa) get a much needed win tonight??? also, if im not mistaken, he only aloud one run... I'll take a win right now.

If they lost he would bitch even if they got Lee or Halladay. He just likes to win now.

It's like a cobra attack on this board tonight... post after devistating post...

seriously though, Tazawa was fine. He was roughly as good as Dice-K has been for most of his starts the past two years: a rough inning, some battles, some good pitches at opportune times, leaving with a lead.

I was at the game, he looked better than his final numbers. Had Green turned the DP he would have gone 6-7 innings.

The only real knock against him was the 1st inning, and that's mostly because 3 runs in the 1st lately has basically meant the Sox were going to lose. Tonight the offense didn't let him down. It would be really nice if Buchholz and Penny could expect the same type of offensive support from here on out. It would suddenly make their staff look a lot better.

I think just being at home will spark them. The crowd really determines how they play, I really believe that, being so close to the field on top of each other, all rallying for the same cause....I believe they thrive off of that.
