Dice K will be back in September. He has been very unlucky this year. That is bound to change if we are still in the race in September. Wakefield will be back soon, and he can start the 4th game of the playoffs if we make it. Oh goodie!

In about 5 years from today, people will be looking at Smoltz's stats to evaluate his HOF candidacy and they'll see the 2009 stats. They'll say. That's right he went to the Red Sox for 1 year after he was finished. He hung on one year too long.

At the risk of starting a s*** storm, I'm not so sure that the Sox appearing in the post season is a forgone conclusion. I don't think Dice will be back. But if he does come back, what may we expect from him? And Wake, I love the guy. I hope he can regain that "groove" that he has been in.

IMO, they are one injury away from a death spiral. Will Drew's injury linger like last year's injury. That could be the one that sinks them.
