Brian Bannister will hope to reverse his track record in Boston. He's has allowed 11 runs and 4 home runs in 11.1 innings in 2 starts at Fenway, losing all 3 of starts against the Red Sox. Bannister (6-6, 3.87) has pitched well lately. Despite a 2-3 record in his last 5 starts, he has a 2.57 ERA and .211 opponent batting average over that span.

I will not be in the GT tonight' date=' probably a good thing because I'd go apoplectic if they lose.[/quote']

You need to calm down. If you are losing it at this point, you'll be homicidal when Tampa starts breathing down our necks, and I think that is a real possibility.

Ellsbury, Varitek, Kotsay and Green. Murderer's row. I think the sox may be going at this the wrong way. Ellsbury in front of those guys is a waste because they dont hit well. And batting him behind Bay is just ridiculous since Ells has no power. If I were Tito, I'd bat Ellsbury 9. If he reaches, then he could steal a base and have a chance to be driven in by players who can actually hit.

Holy s*** you just posted something that actually makes sense.

A 9-1-2 of Ells, Drew and Pedey would be the best possible combination.

I'm going to agree w/jacksonianmarch about Ells lineup position. I've thought that many times myself, once they dropped him out of leadoff.

Eh, I feel like you could have done better. Didn't you made the same exact sarcastic comment in yesterday's game thread? Your starting to lose your touch, try to mix it up a little! :D

The reason they said they like Ellsbury at the bottom of the order was because they didn't think it was necessary to steal bags in front of the big hitters. I think his ability to steal bases and generate offense at the bottom of the order is more useful in front of the weaker hitters because they aren't going to be driving in too many runs from first.

Yea, but how does that help Bay?

He'd be better off with 'Tek hitting behind him, honestly.

Yeah, I'd probably switch Varitek and Ellsbury. I really do like Ellsbury at the bottom of the order though. I kind of feel like his ability to steal bases is wasted at the top of the order because there are plenty of guys who could draw a bases on balls to advance him to second without the risk of a caught stealing, and there are plenty of guys who could drive him in from first base. I like that he's able to generate offense out of the bottom of the order.

Boston.com has not posted the KC line-up. I am dreadfully sorry to disappoint all you Royals fans but there is nothing for me (or VA) to post.

My projected KC line-up:

1. Scrub

2.Scrub

3.Scrub

4.Scrub

5. TEAHAN

6. Scrub

7.Scrub

8.Scrub

9.Scrub

That is all.

does lester amaze us tonight?

I hope so. He's got a 1.64 ERA in 3 starts against the Royals and he's had a ~1.80 ERA his last 6 starts.
