Other then V-Mart there isn't many other moves out there. There is no pitcher other then Halladay that you could say would have exceedingly more success then Buchholz/Bowden/Tazawa. At least not one that would warrant giving up good young talent for anyways.

Even more reason for Theo to get something done. This team needs an improvement from somewhere. If he can't get something done by July 31st like he did in 2006, I'm going to be very irritated.

And V-Mart alone is not at all what this team needs most.

Look' date=' all I know is that Theo better have a plan. If he misses out on A-Gon and/or Halladay and is left counting his marbles because he doesn't have anywhere else to turn and the team doesn't get improved, I am going to go all "Fire_Theo" ON THIS MOTHAf***A![/quote']

do you honestly think Theo has ever gone into the deadline without a plan? sure there may be times that the plan doesn't work out but don't ever think he's just gonna coast into the deadline,.

But what else is really out there? I mean obviously there could be things going on that aren't being reported. Out of who has been deemed "available", I don't see that much of an upgrade over what the Sox have now or could bring up.

Believe me I would like to see something done. but if the Jays or Padres are being unreasonable in their offers, then I can't blame Theo for not pulling the trigger.

I'm pretty sure in 2006 nothing was done because Theo was "content with the team."

Even if he had made moves, with that many injuries they would still have had a tough go of it. Because I doubt he would have acquired "everyday" players for depth purposes. They would still have had some bench guys playing everyday. And that is not a recipe for success.

Bearing in mind that our upper minors were empty in 2006 and that anything we did at the deadline would cost us Lester. it also wasn't hard to see the writing on the wall in 2006 and to know that we really weren't going to be competitive.

What about all the other years when he's made moves? You're acting like he sits on his ass every trade deadline

Rosenthal and Morosi have a source saying things are "very quiet" on the Halladay front. Still, the Dodgers, Angels, Rangers, Rays, and Red Sox remain interested.

Yahoo's Tim Brown sees the Dodgers and Red Sox as the frontrunners for Doc in what is shaping up as a two-team race. Brown says the only Major Leaguer in the Dodgers' offer is James McDonald, while the Sox will part with Clay Buchholz, one of Justin Masterson, Michael Bowden, and Lars Anderson, and some lesser prospects. My guess is that the Red Sox find a way to get this done, given the quality they're already offering. ESPN's Jayson Stark says one Dodgers prospect who is off-limits is shortstop Devaris Gordon.

Taking a look at the roster as it was in 2006, how much of our future would YOU have mortgaged to attempt to stay competitive that year? Rotation shot to heck and what's left not going deep, bullpen absolutely sucking outside of Papelbon, injuries hampering the lineup, no one really stepping up, no minor league depth beyond scrubs and Royals rejects. How many prospects do you spend to try and prop that up?

I'm just as happy not having to watch Lester pitch for the Phillies in exchange for Bobby Abreu and Corey Lidle.

No, I'm not acting like that. I'm saying that I hope he gets a deal done, because 1) they have the pieces to do so, and 2) the writing has been on the wall for months that this team needs an upgrade of some type for this year.

BTW, that first post I made with the last sentence about going all "Fire_Theo" was made in jest. I still want him to make a move. People who have read my posts over the years know that if there's anyone who has f***ing defended Theo in the past, I have been there.

If its between us and the Dodgers' date=' I don't see how we don't win. Their system is respectable, but ours is a lot better.[/quote']

Like I said before. if they are offering Billingley+, that is a legitimate offer. I thing that would suit Toronto much more. Unless they need someone to take Rios deal and the LA can't. Then that would give the Sox the advantage IMO.

The dodgers win if the Jays would rather get him out of the division.

I heard Toronto is not forcing them to send Billingsley or Kershaw in a deal.

God, they take this division s*** too far. You'll face him 5 times a year, and I doubt that he'll dominate you in every single one of those matchups.

If Ricciardi takes an inferior package just to get him out of the AL East, he's a f***tard. And I know some trolling dipshit will fling the homer tag for that.

That would be very dumb on Toronto's part. But I guess they will take a far lesser package to avoid sending him to Boston.

JP is done in Toronto. Theo needs to offer him a Kush job for when he is inevitably let go. Then maybe he will deal Halladay to Boston:lol:

That might change, though. I read it sometime yesterday, but it could be from earlier with new developments since occuring. Who knows.

If I'm JP I like LA better. Especially if I can bring back Billingsley. He goes to the NL. You get back a possible ace entering his prime. Plus whoever else then can pluck from LA's system. Which has some good young players in it.

I trade with Boston if I absolutely have to dump Rios and LA won't take him.

Dodgers just traded for George Sherrill. That might take them out of the Halladay race.

I don't believe any of those guys have been in the talks. I could be wrong though.
