Team sources dismiss report that Buchholz, Bowden, Westmoreland were offered for Halladay

Sources from both the Red Sox and Blue Jays tonight denied to the Globe that Boston had offered pitchers Clay Buchholz and Michael Bowden and outfielder Ryan Westmoreland to Toronto for ace Roy Halladay, which had been reported this afternoon by Yahoo! Sports’s Gordon Edes.

You do know Wilson is the leader of the Glovey Mcnoodlebat division?

And I also don't care.

WHEN OUR BIG BATS ARE PRODUCING, McNoodlebat status will not matter. A superior SS defender and weak bat in the bottom spot of a competent lineup is not a huge deal if we sacrificed the incumbent SS to get a top 3 pitcher in the majors. You could do worse. And if our big bats get swine flu or something and end up sucking for the rest of the season, well, we're not winning anything anyway. So what's the problem?

The fact that we'll have to give up a decent prospect for Wilson's SUCK.

I'd rather just keep Green and have Bloomquist as the utility or something.

We gave up bags of lettuce to get Adam LaRoche, but we'll have to pay something meaningful to pry Glovey McNoodlebat out of there?

Then who's the third team that Toronto and Boston are apparently looking for, and how do we get a legitamite shortstop (since Lowrie would likely be going to the Jays)?

Why do you think he's not here yet, then?

They've scouted him all year long.

While he had the Lugo/Green combo at SS?

If Wilson costs a coupl Dojji type guys then fine. But if he costs anything even remotely significant then meh. He's just not that big of an improvement.

I'd take Hardy before Wilson. His glove may not be as good as Wilson. But at least Hardy's bat is made of wood.

Thing is, Lowrie was injured at that time. No matter what Green/Lugo put us through, Lowrie would be back at some point. So its pretty senseless to go get another starting-caliber shortstop as a temporary replacement. In this scenario, Lowrie is gone.

POTY.

Anyone who has a problem with my multiple POTY candidates can shove it.

"Dojji type guys." Cute. I guess I can deal with the term. I'll admit that my "thing" is looking for hidden value and you don't find that on top 10 lists. It can be the difference between contending and not though.

Personally I think Glovey McNoodlebats tend to get grossly overrated, I'd rather have a guy who can thrive on both sides of the ball. It's NOT that hard to find one.

Maybe we pick up Michael Young's contract and give up a couple "Dojji Types" for him. Texas is contending, but they're not in line for a playoff spot and they're also hurting for money so it's not beyond possibility.

Dojji, it's not an insult. But when you say "Dojji type prospects" everyone knows what we are talking about lol. Makes it easier;)

That difference is mostly in the eye of the beholder. If those guys had no value at all, we wouldn't be paying their salaries.

Your usual "hidden gem" watch sucks balls.

No offense.

And another sex act reference from Dipre. Dude, I hate to disappoint you, but I'm straight as an arrow.

The sheer amount of thought you've put into this post is amazing.

I hate to disappoint you, but the constant affirmation of a person's heterosexuality means they're not very confident in it.

This isn't a guy I'm plucking out of thin air, though. Wilson's been connected to the Sox for a while, and has voiced displeasure in Pittsburgh (like the other 24 players on the team), meaning that if we gave up a couple of bouncy balls to get LaRoche, what would it take to get Glovey McNoodlebat? If the Sox want to find a third team that will allow them to comfortably get Lowrie to Toronto, Wilson's a convenient replacement. Certainly better than Bloomquist or one of those guys.

Also, I stress: the fact that he can't hit a beach ball isn't a huge deal when a) our lineup is still plenty competent when not slumping horribly, and B) he can field his ass off.
