Weren't you the one who said you weren't worried about a 42 year old with his shoulder hanging on by a thread? No one cares about your injury opinions on the Red Sox. All you ever do is claim you're "worried" and then give reasons why the players won't be productive for the Red Sox anymore.

well, he hasnt been productive

right now' date=' you are relying on him just as much as you are relying on any of your starting 5. [b']Once every 5 days for the rest of the season.[/b] Now, if DiceK were 100% and throwing like he had in the past, then yes, Smoltz would be a luxury. But right now, you dont have the luxury of throwing every 5th game down the tubes.

False, Bowden or Buchholz could be called up easily.

Isn't Sergio Mitre starting for you guys this week?

No' date=' you arent stuck with Smoltz. That being said, you have a kid in the minors who has great stuff but a 2 cent head at times. And the sox knew that when they decided to keep him in limbo for the entire season by signing 2 guys to fill his spot in the rotation. [b']I highly doubt that they would want him to come to the majors now, in a stretch run with the division being hotly contested. That is the exact opposite experience the sox would want.[/b]

You're right, we should trade him to the Nationals where he doesn't have to worry about pitching an games of any importance. That would be the ideal situation

You panic more about the Red Sox than anyone else on this site and you're not even a Red Sox fan.

You must admit, you were wrong about his shoulder hanging on by a thread though, weren't you? So maybe it's time to back off your injury "predictions" for a little while.

Why exactly does Buchholz have a 2 cent head?

but that is exactly what they tried to avoid. How else would you read it? Buchholz comes up, fails when given a rotation spot. They sign 2 veterans giving them a total of 6 veterans on the staff for the season. They obviously wanted to have enough depth to avoid calling the kid up this yr, as he isnt even the first option for injury.

I never said his shoulder was hanging on by a thread. They fixed it. I am surprised he is throwing as hard as he is, but he certainly lost some velocity, a lot of bite on his breaking stuff, and a ton of command to this point. I said Penny's shoulder was hanging on by a thread, something that could be proven right any start now. The sox got him as a reclamation project. I am sure they could have gotten more yrs out of him if they thought he would actually be healthy. I would say the sox are tickled pink that Penny has given them what he has to this point.

While you're on the phone with Theo can you let me know what trades he's considering?

He has a 2 cent head because he whined about his mechanics being changed, he got completely destroyed in his first true shot at a big league rotation spot and then started complaining about being in AAA. They didnt make their rotation 6 man deep ahead of him without cause.

Which one of Smoltz' starts did you watch?

He was right about his mechanics. The Red Sox let him go back to them and he's pitched dominantly again.

They made the rotation deep to absorb injuries and have good depth, which Buchholz is a part of. They also stacked their bullpen, that doesn't mean they were trying to avoid calling up Daniel Bard.

That's incredible you've had the time to do that considering you just said you haven't even been able to watch the Yankees games lately you've been so busy at work.:lol::lol:

Well, I've had my share of ******** for the day and then some.

See, when you work, sometimes you have downtime. And one of my shifts was a call shift that had me in my call room. This call room has NESN but has a shoddy internet reception, so getting MLB.com is difficult. I have seen all of his starts. I had to gamecast the yankee games in that time. But keep trying to check on me, feel free. Remember, contribution to society. You should try it sometime. That is, after you learn a bit about math and after you take your foot out of your mouth

the sox probably would have liked to have kept Bard in the minors too. But he was getting nothing out of pitching in AAA and they had an opening

Phil Hughes? Ian Kennedy?

and then started complaining about being in AAA.

"Until I got to the big leagues is whenever I faced the problems that arose, and I feel like I'm more equipped with everything that I have right now -- as far the pitches, and the mental aspect and I'm physically healthy -- to be up there and helping that team. And if not that team, I want to be in the big leagues and I do want to go somewhere where I'll be able to play and pitch every fifth day."

Wow, he's hungry to be in the big leagues again. What a stupid kid, clearly not major-league material....

They made their rotation 6 men deep because you can't have enough pitching, injuries happen and they were in a position to acquire two low-risk, high-reward guys either as contributors or trade chips

Trust me, if the FO really had zero confidence in Buchholz, he would have been out of here after ST and they would've gotten serious value in return.

Why would the Sox want to keep Bard in AAA? He wasn't being touched there.

I went to med school instead

Were you up late last night on one of your nursing shifts? You seem a little grumpy today.

I am not saying that they never wanted him back at the big league level. Far from it. I think they were trying to do what the yankees wanted to do with Hughes this yr. Insulate the player for a season, let them iron out their wrinkles and then fight for a spot in spring training 2010.

You're right, I should totally contribute more to society. Maybe I could get paid to watch NESN like you. In between inserting catheters that is.

You must admit, you are pretty grumpy today buddy. I've never seen throw around so many personal insults as I have today. You sound angry, have you tried meditation?
