So I saw an article that claimed Bay was, statistically, a terrible fielder. Would you agree with that? Visually he's seemed ok to me...works hard, runs fairly well, and at least doesn't appear "lazy" out there etc.

I bolded the most important words in your post. Just because a sportswriter pulls up a bunch of random and unrelated statistics to back up an opinion he has already made and then writes an article about it doesn't make it true. Bay is a solid defender, as anyone (like myself) who has watched him since his first season in Pittsburgh and the last two seasons (like you guys) in Boston can attest to.

I certainly don't know the relevant statistics, but I think he plays a pretty good left field. Two good plays in the 5th inning so far. 6-2 f***!

Yeah, I know.

I think they were using UZR/fangraphs and Baseball Prospectus for their stats.

Was just curious if there was something I was missing about Bay...I don't always notice players playing 'trends'.
