Im more happy Lopez is gone then I am Bard is up.

Edit: When Dice-k is back and Masterson is back in bullpen this bullpen will be f***ing amazing, worst pitcher will be Saito.

good riddance, Lopez

I'm somewhat surprised they didn't send Jones back to Pawtucket instead considering how much he's stuggled lately, but I suppose they'll do that when Dice-K gets activated

It will be interesting to see how this kid does. Will he tense up and be wild? Will he be dominant? Will he be something inbetween? I think the sox can learn from the yankees and see what they did with both Robertson and Melancon. Putting them right into the heart of a yankees sox series in critical moments is not a good way to break a kid in. If they are smart, he only sniffs the mound if the sox are getting pummelled or the sox are pummelling TB.

We already learned that with Hansen and Delcarmen.

Both very strong posibilities the way this series has gone so far.

The way Garza has pitched and the way the Rays have owned us, I figured the former was the only strong possibility.

Tampa BP?

Excited to see this guy, whenever that may be.

I remember watching Bard dominate in the CWS a few years ago. Pretty amazing that UNC didn't win the whole thing in '06.

This might be the best day of my life. I dont have to worry about some dick nose not being able to play a simple ball tossed to him from youkilis . get the hell out lopez

Never thought i'd heard Lopez get called that, thought i'd heard every imaginable insult against him, lol.

your life sucks apparently

Cant wait to see what he can do. I really see him succeeding, he was not rushed like other bullpen prospects of our recent past, and there is no pressure on him, since he is not going to be expected to be "the man".

I would miss Lopez. He was horrible this year, I don't think anyone would argue that, but I think he was very underrated for the 2 previous seasons and I feel that his contributions had been ignored. I don't know what the problem is this season (specifically, other than the obvious) but I wish him the best wherever he goes.

No, he sucks. Really.

He sucked in '07 and '08. He sucked harder this year.

The position on the roster he held would have been much better spent on someone who had some, any, potential upside.

Lopez by ERA+ by year.

2006: 173

2007: 153

2008: 190

I don't give a flying twinkie how he looked. Prior to this year he was getting results. It's a shame he can't seem to get that back this year but I have absolutely no doubt whatsoever that some team will be glad to take him off our hands.

ERA+ is based on ERA. His ERA far from reflected how he actually performed.

Which part didn't reflect it? The 1.36 WHIP? The h/9 WELL below 9? The fact that in those 3 years he only gave up seven total homers?

I'll be the first to admit he is a stranger to the strike zone but it is very, very hard to square up on Javier Lopez. He got a ton of soft grounders. And the only number that isn't an asset is bb/9. Every other number Lopez put up 2006-2008 is good to very good.,

I hope we can sell this to some GM.

Any team struggling to assemble a bullpen would make a play for the guy.

If nothing else the Nationals won't let Javier Lopez get past them if he gets that far. In fact they might pledge a PTBNL to make sure they get him. They're beyond desperate for bullpen help.

Yea, cause everytime he came into the game to get a lefty out, he would walk him and then another reliever would come in and clean up his mess thus keeping intact his nifty little ERA. Ask yourself this, seeing as how his numbers were so good on the surface, why was he never counted as a regular setup man?

Don't even tell me you had supreme confidence in this guy everytime he came into the game. Don't you think you'd expect to have that confidence in the guy considering his ERA? I have a hard time believing this will be JC Romero all over again.
