I agree that Lugo should have to earn the job.

I do not agree that Bowden should have stayed up. He should get consistent innings, not random 2 inning spurts.

If they're still looking to make him a starter, I can understand this.

Personally, I'd rather see him in the pen. The rotation is pretty solid as of now, despite injuries. Adding Bowden to the pen, perhaps in place of Lopez, would give us more to an already sick pen.

Then again, there's still Masterson who could go to the pen.

Bowden is a starter. For the future, we have Beckett-Lester-Matsuzaka-Buchholz-Masterson, all of whom have question marks. I don't think it's a good idea to convert Bowden to the bullpen.

Jacoby, please explain how a #4 starter with a 2.45 era, 2-1, 1.05 whip isn't a good pitcher. Career 180 - 158, 4.31era, 1919K, who averages 173 innings a season. How is that not awesome for a #4 guy? I found some stats, in 2006, the MLB average era of #4 starters was 5.10. According to this cool article I found: http://www.hardballtimes.com/main/article/how-good-is-your-4-starter/

A pitcher with a career era of 4.31 can considered as good as a #2 starter. Yes, that means Wakefield, in you're average MLB team, would be the 2nd or 3rd best pitcher. For us, he is our 4th/5th best. Whats the problem?

I'd kinda like to see Green stay as the starter for now as he's doing a good job

Green is good with bat - his defense reminds me of Renteria - did he not commit 3 error in 1 day or something?

Edit - Cleveland has my favourite ballpark - I have watched 3 Red Sox games there - Sox won all three.

Yea, the doubleheader with the Twins. It's not as if Julio Lugo is the second coming of Alex Gonzalez though

True - but Lugo is an enigma - sometimes he makes spectacular plays. With Green - you are almost guarranted 1 error every other game.

when do they push Papi down in the order?

Ideally like 3 weeks ago.

But he's been doing well lately, so they'll probably leave him there.

He hasn't been killing us lately, he actually has had some big hits on the the last homestand.
