Wouldn't the series have to be 1-1 for the rubber to come in to effect?

For your consideration:

Even with last night's 11 run boondoggle, Red Sox are 4th in the AL in runs allowed, behind KC, Seattle and Oakland in that order.

Yankees are ahead of only historically bad Baltimore in runs allowed in all of Major League Baseball.

No National League team, not even the Nationals, has allowed more runs than the Cleveland Guardians, New York Yankees and Baltimore Orioles.

Yankee pythag stands at 7-10. Boston's stands identical with their record at 11-6.

Boston's offense is tied for second in the American League with the Texas Rangers, behind of all teams, the Toronto Blue Jays. In the National League, the Los Angeles Dodgers and St. Louis Cardinals are the teams that have outscored Boston. (St. Louis has scored 106 runs to Boston's 105).

Boston has scored 105 runs to New York's 99.

This will be one of the first games I've actually been able to watch because it's on ESPN tonight.

If you can spare about $15 a month you should look into MLB.tv. You get all games out of your area. And the basic deal, which I have, has pretty decent quality and I've had it since the start of the 2007 season.
