Yes, but Brad Penny plays for the Reeeeeeeeeeeed Sooooooooooox, and CC Sabathia plays for DAAAAAAAAAAAAAA YAAAAAAAANKZ!!!1!

Now does it make sense why half the Red Sox roster is injured and the Yankees are completely healthy?

And that Papi's done' date=' and that Smoltz will get hurt, and Lowell won't be able play etc etc etc etc.[/quote']

The way he's pitched, you'd be better off if Smoltz STAYED hurt.

That six game lead you had sure disappeared pretty quickly didn't it?

Keep in mind...the Yankees tied the Sox while on the road, and while you guys are at home. We've finally caught up to you in run differential [+72 Sox, +71 Yanks] and our pitchers haven't performed all that well. If Sabathia and Burnett have the same second halves they had last year, you guys are going to be worrying a lot more about Tampa than you are about us. We're going into Anaheim, but we're 2-1 against them this year, and you have KC at home, so that should be a sweep for you, at the least 2-1 in your favor.

If we can make the All-Star break tied, the schedule goes in our favor for the first half of July. For you guys, you start on the road with Toronto and Texas, and we stay home for Detroit and Baltimore. Seing how you are 23-20 on the road, we should have a small lead going into the end of July.

Jeeze Gom, I don't even know why the Red Sox should bother if it's inevitable you guys will have a lead come August.:lol::lol:

Good luck with your rotation full of 1.38+ WHIPs. There's no way they keep up their ERA's with their ugly peripherals, it's like a ticking time bomb. Just a matter of time...

And as soon as the Yankees come back down to earth, we'll gain some games on them, just like we did after their hot streak in May.

He might go upstairs and tell his Mommy on us if we call him Jackie. But I'll consider it :D

How old are you? I am being repetitive, but your sense of humor should land you a spot on that quality TV show Fanarchy.

Yankees current starters' WHIP (Sabathia, Burnett, Pettitte, Chamberlain, Aceves)- 375.1IP 344H 138BB- comes out to 1.28WHIP

Red Sox current starters' WHIP (Beckett, Lester, Wakefield, Penny, Smoltz)- 435.1IP 452H 137BB- comes out to 1.35WHIP

Dont mean to call you stupid, but, well, you're dumb

Can you imagine if the Yankees had to put Hughes back in the rotation? That would be awesome.

Why would this be awesome?

Honest question - how much do you expect this rotation to regress?

Posted

Yes, why would they regress.

Sabathia is pitching to a WHIP I expect him to be right around. He's at 1.12 right now, I dont expect him to replicate last yrs WHIP, but I do expect him to stay in the 1-1.12 range

Burnett has been rolling since the sox embarassed him. 5 starts, 33.2IP 23H 5ER 16BB 37K for an ERA of 1.33, a WHIP of 1.15 and a K/9 of 9.9.

Pettitte is going to give you 5-6+ IP every night and keep you in the game. His WHIP is always high and his peripherals always suck. Thats the pitcher he's been for a decade, but he's as reliable as they come.

With that top 3, you have one guy who is pitching better than anyone either team has in CC. You have Burnett, who was dominant the last half of last yr and has been on a roll for a month now. And you have Pettitte, who is a reliable pitcher who wont be pretty, but finds a way to win games.

After those three, you have Chamberlain. Chamberlain is a first yr major league starter who has been inconsistent. But, these guys typically get better over time, something I think Joba will do eventually. He has mixed in some real clumkers with some dominant starts and has been able to keep the runners he lets on from scoring. He's been very valuable for us this yr in the 4 hole

Then the 5 hole is anyone's guess. Its Aceves for now. Wang will eventually reclaim it, as he was improving before he went down.

Regardless, this isnt a perfect rotation. But we have 2 guys at the top who are rolling, a guy in the 3 spot who is very reliable, Joba who is lights out or bad and then a 5 hole that is up in the air. Not sure where I see the significant decline unless there is another injury

The only pitcher I would expect a regression from is Burnett. That's really it.

His BB/9 will come back to career norms.

When it does, it will offset the effect of his H/9, LOB%, his BABIP is also quite high, that could normalize as well.

Burnett's BB/9IP in Toronto was 3.2 per 9IP. His BB/9IP in NY is 4.4. I expect that to come down a bit as the season wears on.

His BB/9 is higher than it was with the Blue Jays, but his BABIP is also much lower (0.40 points lower than last year). I'd expect him to give up less walks and allow more hits.

What about Chamberlain and Pettitte?

Chamberlain - 4.12 ERA, 1.49 WHIP, 4.76 FIP

Pettitte - 4.53 ERA, 1.51 WHIP, 4.78 FIP

Both their BABIP's are below career averages.

I think they'll regress slightly but I feel Burnett is the major one.

I could see why. He has the ERA of CC Sabathia and the peripherals of Brad Penny.

Yeah he does' date=' fortunately Joba's pitching for the Yankees.[/quote']

Fortunately why?

The Angels are an extremely aggresive team.

Joba's the type of wild pitcher that gets them every time.

Specially without Hunter and Vlad.

Joba usually gives the other team a chance. He allows a lot of baserunners and usually doesn't get very deep in games. The Yankees pen is pretty thin after yesterday.
