Yeah, I'm really licking my chops for Lowrie to return. Got a couple doubles and a couple walks today. I think people will be surprised what a solid hitter he is when he's healthy. And we've really missed his defense.

HAHAHAHA

Nick Swisher has got to be one of the top 3 worst baserunners in baseball. I've seen him get thrown out trying to stretch a single to a double at least 4 times now and I only see about half the Yankees games.

Posted
i think Swisher really got overrated because he started the season off well but he is streaky as hell a poor baserunner and not much better defensively

Yeah, his outfield defense has been really poor from what I've seen. He's more of a 1B, and it shows.

That's a huge base hit. That means Mauer will get another at bat. Reminds me of the good old days when you'd hope the Red Sox lineup could turn it over and get Ortiz up in the 9th.

Mo comes on in the 8th and gets the 3rd out..

It was a hard hit ball, but right to Jeter. Mauer's gonna get a chance in the 9th, don't give up on this one yet. Mo's given up an earned run in 3 out of 6 of his inning+ appearances this year.

Pretty routine to see Mo get srikeouts on pitches well out of the zone. He's gotta get the most generous strike zone in all of baseball.

Another hard hit ball, but again right at Jeter.

Yanks win. 1 more game and they're on to Anaheim.

well honestly mo deserves his reputation its generous but Mo is one of the most lethal closers of all time

I think Mo's a great guy too, but no one deserves a 3 foot plate because of their reputation. He's hard enough to hit with a normal sized plate.

It was so obvious that the Yankee announcers couldn't ignore it.

The bats were silenced by a rookie middle reliever and a lefty who looks like Rich Garces. But the pen made it hold up after Mauer's bomb and Mo was his standard self, albeit with some help. I'll take another win. Go for the sweep today with Liriano on the hill vs Aceves. Should be fun.

I love how the Red Sox fans complain about the strike zone. The umpire had been giving that outside pitch all night.

Next thing we'll hear is how Mo did it all on steroids while scuffing the ball and soaking it overnight in a vat of vasoline.

I was watching the game, and that's not true. Come on, you and I both know Mo gets that call all the time. I'm surprised this is even a debate.

Hardly.

Aceves gave up a hit and some hard hit outs in the first. Didn't look like himself, maybe he was a little nervous.

With the exception of the Morneau AB (the only one where the ball wasn't hit particularly hard), I believe he threw nothing but fastballs. When he comes out of the bullpen, Aceves doesn't hesitate to start throwing all his pitches immediately. However, he's going to work differently as a starter. He may get hit today, but I'm not worried about the hard hit balls in the first.

Gom, common. No one is debating how great Mo is, but he does get some very generous calls. This isn't some ridiculous accusation.

I did notice he was throwing a lot of fastballs, and grooving them down the middle. Could be part of his game plan that he starts out featuring his fastball then uses his breaking stuff the second time through the order.

Twins are being their own worst enemy. Leadoff walk, hit batter, bobble on potential double play ball. Bases loaded, no one out. Let's see how much damage the Yankees do.

Bottom third of this order might be a problem today.

EDIT: As expected. Melky from the right side is usually not a good thing.

He's a .279/.355/.500 hitter against lefties (I assume he's batting righty in all of those).
