His strikeout totals, every year, even if he is playing well, are always high. This is mainly due to the fact that he doesn't shorten up, which you pointed out. That is no different than any other year.

In one of his MVP years, 2005, he set a career high in K's.

Wrong.

A-Rod shortens up and goes the other way.

However, it depends a lot on the situation.

You need to check A-Rod's spray chart to see that every year he has hit above .300, at least 18% of his hits (excluding homers) have gone the other way.

Anyone who plays baseball will tell you that to go the other way with any regularity you need to shorten up your swing.

He goes the other way no matter what the count is. A-Rod is at his best when he's going to center and right center. It has nothing to do with being down in the counts. Take a look at his strikeout numbers. They are always high. A-Rod striking out is not rare, no matter how well he is doing. This is mainly due to the fact that A-Rod, admittedly, is a guess hitter, even when he gets to two strikes. He doesn't have a typical approach at the plate.

I said "situation" not "count".

I realize that, but you were talking about what he does with two strikes in a previous post. Our whole argument comes down to the fact that you think his swing is messed up because he is trying to hit the ball out of the ballpark. You have no idea if that's the case. He could, and likely is, just having a horrible slump.

You also said that he needs to shorten his swing up with two strikes. A-Rod has never done that.

He does.

And he usually shortens it up on hard fastballs on the outer half of the plate.

That's the only way to generate other-way power.

If you don't believe that, then fine, i'll supply some video ASAP so you can see for yourself.

Well, ok, I can give you that. My point was that when he gets to two strikes, he doesn't automatically try to shorten up his swing and go the other way. A-Rod has a very similar approach no matter what the count is.

Jackson' date=' honestly, stop complaining about Girardi. You wanted Torre out of here. You were in favor of bringing in someone else to manage this team, even though they made the playoffs EVERY YEAR.[/quote']

You know what else sucks?

That for the most part they were shut out by a nobody who wouldn't make the rotation in the Mexican leagues.
