Aceves has been pretty solid to this point, 11 innings in. He doesnt have the best stuff in the world, but he makes up for that with a deep arsenal and good location. He throws something like 6 pitches. 4 seamer, 2 seamer, cutter, change, slider and curve. He could be a very good swing pitcher, something we havent had since Mendoza

What announcers? if it was the wonderful team of Sterling/Waldman it might be best to adhere to a point-of-view exactly opposite of what that steaming pile of donkey dung has to offer.

I misspoke. It was Cone yesterday...who...ironically enough, started his career in the pen. He was all for it.

If the Yankee pen was solid, send him down. However, we have at least two major holes in Albaladejo and Veras, and I'm not sure I trust Tomko or Aceves yet. He should stay and pitch up here, at least until he fails. Because the truth of the matter is Aceves is doing better, and if they go from within next year [fat chance], it will probably be Aceves.

I hope they dont go with Aceves. I really like him in this swing role. I think he will lose some effectiveness out of the rotation. If you go from a sheer upside POV, Hughes is a much better rotation option. I am just very, very concerned that a Hughes to the BP move would shorten his arsenal. He's now had 1 fantastic start, one good start, and 2 very poor starts. This is what is expected at this point. He's inconsistent. But I like some of what I have seen. His cutter could be a very effective pitch, but he is very wild with it. I have seen him try to use it on lefties with some success, but sometimes, it doesnt cut and stays down the middle. I've seen him try it on righties where it cuts out of the zone and causes him to get behind. I like his 2 seamer too, especially as a front door option vs lefties. But he's had it ride out to the middle of the plate too. His curveball is now much more potent, but his 2 bad nights seemed to be keyed upon a complete lack of command of the curve. And his change has been hit or miss too. I just think that the last 2 yrs have left him an unfinished product. And I said from day 1 that a full yr in the minors would help him. And I stand by that.

Nice job, following the home run by Albaledjo, but I stand by what I said. I think Tomko could really thrive if they gave him more innings.

Yeah, I mean, I don't propose using him as a starter or even in long relief. But I think he could be more effective in a short relief role than some of the other guys in the pen.

Terrible pitch selection there. Albaledjo got two fastballs by him and then decided to speed up his bat with a slider.

You should play by Gom's rules and blame Cervelli for calling that pitch.

I don't understand what Girardi is doing by letting Albaledjo start his third inning. Terrible outing from him, and here comes Veras. The next five outs to Rivera might be tough (as usual).

Girardi' date=' wtf are you doing? [b'] Albaladejo doesnt have it tonight.[/b] Replace him.

LOL!

He has a 6.95 ERA and a 1.67 WHIP. Exactly when did he have it? You're lost.

He's lost. Even on the Roberts strikeout, Cervelli wanted the pitch down and in, and he threw the ball up and away out of the zone. Of course, you wouldn't see that, would you Jacko.

I'm sure you'd rather have Albaladejo up here instead of Hughes...yes, we know. What a joke. Why this guy is in the majors I have no idea.

They're kind of limited in terms of options, not to mention the starter got two outs tonight. You have to live with guys like that giving up runs. With that being said, the only thing I'm really upset about is the Markakis home run, because he didn't need to still be pitching in the 7th.

Do you read what you type? Of course I saw him miss his spot. Remember Gom. I played college ball. You didnt. My team crushed the college you were too much of a pussy to try out for. And in college you actually learn how to study the game. You chart, review tape, study pitches, tweak ABs, etc. In High School, it was mostly a grip it and rip it experience. Dont try to big game me Gom. I have forgotten more baseball than you will ever know.
