True' date=' but I look at the playoffs as a formality. Assuming I don't drop off during the remainder of the season - if I lose in the playoffs - I still have, by far, the best team. So if I lose, I can at least take solace in that.[/quote']

No offense, but the literal translation of this is....

You can't stop me from feeling really good about myself for guessing who would have a big year.

Take that however you want.

No, that's actually accurate. I'd be lying if I said it wasn't gratifying. But there was certainly a good deal of luck involved. Haren is a solid pitcher, but as far as I know he's never been this dominant for this long. Blackburn was decent last year, but this year he's been incredible. Buehrle is having his best season in years. That said, I expect all three will drop off somewhat as the season progresses.

Hawpe's career-high in doubles is 33. He already has 24 this year. I actually thought he might have a down year, now that Holliday is no longer in the lineup. Sandoval looked good last year, but there was no way of knowing he would meet or exceed expectations from the small sample size. Gonzalez is hitting for more power and getting on base more than ever before.

Finally, I got incredibly lucky with Reynolds. Someone dropped him because it looked like his playing time was about to be greatly reduced. But he got new life because everyone else in that D-Backs lineup was struggling mightily early on. Had Alex Gordon stayed healthy, would I have picked up Reynolds? We'll never know.

So yes, I'm happy with how things have turned out. But it would be misleading to say I knew beforehand or could have guessed where my team would be in the standings right now.

I'm not taking anything away from you, but the way I see it...the top two spots are key. You get a bye week. That's it.

You put the best team on the field, drafting/trading, and hope for the best at the end.

Ok..back to the trading bit. I'm loaded on closers. I need a solid OF bat. I've sent a few proposals but I'm still waiting to hear back.

Someone has to have a need for RP. I'm not asking for an All-Star, just someone better than Milton Bradley or Brett Gardner.

Drop Gardner and pick up someone else. There are a handful of guys who would be upgrades over him.

yeah but then he dosent get to trade

GOM"s addicted to trading .

Gardner? He only has a .406 OBP, 25 total bases and 8 steals in the last month. Find me a player who's out there who is better...

Maybe that explains why I'm ahead of all of you guys in the standings except for Keeper.

f***ing Buerhle pitches a perfect game against me, and I forgot to put in Burnett the other day. I hope to get a shot against you in the finals Keeper.

That said...I'm in the mood to trade. I have a couple of proposals out there. Please respond fellas. If not, I'm looking for an OF. Not a star, just someone better than Milton Bradley.

I was wondering why you didn't start Burnett. It all equals out. I'm getting Haren's worst start of the year right now.

I can't access fantasy from work, and I forgot to set my lineups this week. If Burnett woulda started, I'd be up 6-4 instead of down 5-3.

True, but them's the breaks. I didn't have Ethier or Konerko in my lineup when they each hit 3 HRs in a game. Albeit your situation is a little different, as you were planning on starting Burnett.

Eh...it doesn't really matter. I'll see you in the finals. That's the only time our matchup matters.

You know what's a good idea?

Giving a prize to the team that wins the consolation brackett. That would keep pretty much everyone in it.

What do you say SFOC? At least give them their money back for the league, and take that out of the winners totals.

It's a bad idea. This isn't t-ball where everyone gets a prize. There is no reward for losing.

Why don't you implement this great idea in the other league ?

We tried ESPN, but I like Yahoo much better. There is no losers bracket in ESPN. Just the top 4. We got some real good members there, next year we'll do it with some cash. Half the members are good, half are non-existent.
