Rob Bradford of WEEI.com has reported that Sean Casey has signed on with the MLB Network, making his retirement official.

Casey, 34, hit .322/.381/.392 in 218 plate appearances for the Red Sox in 2008. Casey finishes his career with a .302 lifetime batting average

Casey was a nice guy to have around the team last year. But with the market the way it is, I'm sure he had trouble finding a fulltime gig.

The Mayor was a good guy. One of the slowest players I've ever seen though haha.

No doubt.

I bet Ellsbury could go all the way around the basebs before Casey could round 2B LOL

I just don't see Casey criticizing anyone. He's like one of those parents of a little league game that says "It's all right guys, nobody was keeping score, we all had fun...now let's go to Friendly's" I don't think Casey has anything mean to say about anyone...
